RIP to rapper and actor DMX, who has died today age 50.
RIP DMX, growing up in Atlanta his song Up In Here was the soundtrack of the Braves team in the late 2000s. Unfortunately this will be another example of me fulling a appreciating an artists catalogue too late after they’re already dead.

Sad to hear of the death of composer and producer Jim Steinman at the age of 73.
Most famous for his work with Meat Loaf, especially the classic Bat Out of Hell, he also worked with Bonnie Tyler (Total Eclipse of the Heart and Holding Out for a Hero were his), Celine Dion, Barry Manilow, Air Supply and more.
His bombastic semi-operatic writing and production brought something new to music, and while often imitated it was never bettered.
and, Sir…

Saddened to hear of the death of astronaut Michael Collins, the often forgotten member of the Apollo 11 crew that saw man on the moon for the first time, aged 90.
Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin’s names are writ large for being the first humans to step onto somewhere that wasn’t Earth, while Collins orbited the moon in the command module.
He was one of only 24 humans who have been to the moon, even if he didn’t get to step on it.
RIP Michael Collins (31 October 1930 – 28 April 2021)

Early rock ‘n’ roll star Lloyd Price, whose hits included ‘Lawdy Miss Clawdy,’ dies at 88
Singer-songwriter Lloyd Price, an early rock ’n roll star and enduring maverick whose hits included such up-tempo favorites as “Lawdy Miss Clawdy,” “Personality” and the semi-forbidden “Stagger Lee,” has died. He was 88.
Price died Monday at a long-term care facility in New Rochelle, New York, of complications from diabetes, his wife, Jacqueline Price, told The Associated Press on Saturday.
Lloyd Price, inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998, was among the last survivors of a post-World War II scene in New Orleans that anticipated the shifts in popular music and culture leading to the rise of rock in the mid-1950s. Along with Fats Domino and David Bartholomew among others, Price fashioned a deep, exuberant sound around the brass and swing of New Orleans jazz and blues that placed high on R&B charts and eventually crossed over to white audiences.
“Very important part of Rock history. He was BEFORE Little Richard!” rock singer and E Street Band member Steven Van Zandt said Saturday on Twitter. “Lawdy Miss Clawdy of 1952 has a legit claim as the first Rock hit…. Righteous cat. Enormous talent.”
RIP Lloyd Price

Sad to hear of the death of Dusty Hill at the age of 72, bassist with ZZ Top for over fifty years, and one of the greats of the instrument, he will be sadly missed.
Billy Gibbons and Frank Beard have issued a statement confirming his death:
We are saddened by the news today that our Compadre, Dusty Hill, has passed away in his sleep at home in Houston, Texas. We, along with legions of ZZ Top fans around the world, will miss your steadfast presence, your good nature, and enduring commitment to providing that monumental bottom to the ‘Top’. We will forever be connected to that ‘Blues Shuffle in C.’ You will be missed greatly, amigo.
Though often lampooned and stereotyped, ZZ Top were one of the great rock trios, and though they recently played their first concerts without him in over fifty years because he had hip problems, it’s hard to think of them without his bass.
RIP Joseph Michael “Dusty” Hill (19 May 1949–28 July 2021).

BREAKING NEWS: Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts died in a London hospital today, aged 80, surrounded by family.
Charlie, along with Ringo and Keith Moon, redefined drums for the rock age, and also the rhythm section as Charlie with Bill Wyman, Ringo with Paul, and Keith Moon with John Entwistle, were jaw-dropping. It is interesting how all three brought something different to what became the basis of rock drumming – Charlie, the jazz drummer playing rock; Ringo, the lefty playing a right-handed kit; Keith, the wild and impulsive explosive drummer.
Between the three of them, they rewrote the book. And now there’s only Ringo left (Thank God !).
Charlie had recently pulled out of the upcoming US Stones tour due to a medical procedure, and has previously suffered from throat cancer, though no cause of death has yet been given.
RIP Charles Robert Watts (2 June 1941–24 August 2021)

Tremendous loss…
Charlie was the coolest one in the band and the most consistent asset, not to mention every bit as great a rock n roll drummer as our Ritchie.
