I’ve just found out now that Tommy DeVito, one of the original Four Seasons, was claimed by the virus back on the 21st at the age of 92. I’ve said it a few times now, but I’ve been getting into them the last few months, so to hear about this today was a total downer. R.I.P. Tommy

Sad to hear of the death today of Eddie Van Halen, one of rock’s great guitarists, at the age of 65 from throat cancer.
RIP Edward Lodewijk Van Halen (26 January 1955-6 October 2020).

Aw man, “I Can See Clearly Now” was such a staple of my childhood… still gets periodically in my head. Never knew who sang it. RIP

Sad to hear of the death of guitarist and bandleader Spencer Davis on Monday aged 81.
He formed the Rhythm and Blues Quartet with brothers Steve and Muff Winwood and Pete York in 1963; who were soon renamed the Spencer Davis Group because Davis was the only one in the group who enjoyed doing interviews, and the others thought if his name was up front it would give them the chance to slope off when the press came calling.
They had two UK #1s in 1966 with the classics Keep on Running (which knocked We Can Work It Out /Day Tripper off #1) and Somebody Help Me, along with other hits with I’m a Man and Gimme Some Lovin’ (later covered by The Blues Brothers). The band didn’t last long, with singer Steve Winwood quitting in 1967 to form Traffic.
One of the great ’60s guitarists, he went on to have a long solo career, if rarely troubling the charts.
On a Beatles-note, Spencer was one of the passengers on the Magical Mystery Tour bus, cropping up here and there throughout the film.
RIP Spencer David Nelson Davies* (17 July 1939–19 October 2020).
And Sir…
* Davies is the spelling of his surname he was born with.
