Offline Rest in peace, Grandma Hole. Not unexpected, but sad nonetheless. At least you’re no longer suffering through that damn disease that we still don’t have a cure for – cancer.

He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,

Breaking news, basketball legend Kobe Bryant, former Lakers player, is among five killed in a helicopter crash. Basketball isn’t really a big sport here in the UK, but his is a name I know well, and someone who transcended his sport. He was just 41.
RIP Kobe Bean Bryant (23 August 1978 – 26 January 2020).

EDIT: Ah, I think I got it! Early reports, and I made my post about Kobe within minutes of the news breaking (the BBC link I used was just a headline and 1 minute old when I linked), had five on the helicopter, which has since been updated to nine…
You can only report on what’s known at the time, and at the time of my post it was five. I did reference it being breaking news.

Offline RIP Jessica. Beloved, despite her surly nature, by my high school’s drama club, marching band, and jazz band. She was a popular waitress at the local diner that local high schools flocked to after events. She died on Sunday of a drug overdose. The last time I saw her was Saturday, which is quite eerie. It freaks me out that she’s gone. I’ve known her for three years now and she was friends with many students and alumni. All local high schools will dearly miss our favorite waitress….
