Fast Eddie Clarke, Motörhead Guitarist, Dies at 67
Fast Eddie Clarke, the last remaining member of the British rock band Motörhead’s best-known lineup, died on Wednesday night in a hospital [in London]. He was 67.
Todd Singerman, the band’s manager, confirmed the death in a telephone interview. The band released a statement on its Facebook page saying that the hospital had been treating Mr. Clarke for pneumonia.
Mr. Clarke, who was born Edward Allen Clark, joined the band as its guitarist in 1976, alongside the drummer Phil Taylor and the singer and bassist Ian Fraser Kilmister, who was known as Lemmy.
The band released 22 studio albums and went through numerous lineup changes, but the one with Mr. Clarke was regarded as the classic one. Mr. Taylor died in November 2015 at 61. Mr. Kilmister died a month later at 70.
Mr. Clarke, who was born on Oct. 5, 1950, in Twickenham, a suburb of London, played on some of the band’s best-selling albums, including “Motörhead” (1977), “Overkill” and “Bomber” (both 1979), and “Ace of Spades” (1980).
Mr. Clarke left the band while it was on tour in the United States after the release of “Iron Fist” in 1982. He went on to form the two-piece hard-rock group Fastway with the former U.F.O. bassist Pete Way in 1983.
Fastway released seven albums, including its debut, “Fastway,” in 1983, and “All Fired Up” the next year. The band toured with AC/DC.
Phil Campbell, Motörhead’s guitarist from 1984 to 2015, said in a statement that Mr. Clarke would be remembered for his “iconic riffs” and that he had been a “true rock ’n’ roller.”
There was no immediate word on his survivors.
Rest in peace

@ewe2 If you haven’t had a pet, it’s a bit like trying to imagine what chocolate might taste like. Likewise, losing a pet is much more painful than one might imagine. I’ve had to put down 2 dogs, and in some ways I’ve never gotten over it. I’m sure you gave Macro a great life, and somewhere out there, he’s appreciative.

Dolores O’Riordan, the lead singer of The Cranberries, has sadly died at the ridiculously young age of 46. She had a fantastic voice and the band had some incredible songs.
Anyone looking for a Beatles connection needs to look no further than their track, ‘I Just Shot John Lennon ‘, which is far less controversial than the title suggests.

Extremely saddened and shocked to hear the breaking news that Cranberries lead singer, Dolores O’Riordan, has been found dead in a London hotel at the age of 46.
She was in London for recording sessions with a band she has been working with lately called D.A.R.K..
Few details are known at the moment.
RIP Dolores Mary Eileen O’Riordan (6 September 1971-15 January 2018)!

Looks like we won’t be able to escape The Cranberries for the next few weeks (not like I was trying).

Hate to be back here so soon, but sadly we lost not only Dolores on the 15th, but also the great Edwin Hawkins.
He had been suffering from pancreatic cancer, and passed away at home in California, at the age of 74.
While he may only really be remembered for one song, what a joyous and uplifting song it was…
RIP Edwin Reuben Hawkins (19 August 1943-15 January 2018)

My mother used to be a music minister in Columbus. when ever she would sing Oh, Happy Day. The congregation would always sing along so joyfully.
I never explored much of The Cranberries other than Zombie which i always thought was a masterpiece
RIP to both of them

@Ahhh Girl pointed me to this news, and asked me to post about it, suggesting I might be able to do it better than her. I doubt that, but here goes…
Paul Goresh, the fan who captured the last photos of John, including the infamous picture of John and, as Paul McCartney would later describe him, “the jerk of all jerks,” passed away on 9 January after a period of illness, confirmed by his cousin, Rosanne Taylor. He was 58.
Paul was 21, a Lennon fan who hung around the Dakota, taking photographs and enjoying the rapport he was building with John.
John Lennon was as decent a person as I’ve ever met. He treated me wonderful. He never bothered anybody and he wanted to be left alone. He was just very down to Earth and he liked regular people more than the beautiful people.
Paul wasn’t looking to get famous for hanging around the Dakota, he was just an amateur photographer and fan who wanted to get some pictures of his hero. The last photos he took of John would land him in the history books, though; forever associated with that dreadful day.
He would have to live with that for the rest of his life, something he sometimes struggled with.
He never wanted the page he got in Beatles history, would have rather that the photographs he took on 8 December didn’t have the impact they had on 9 December.
He would champion John for the rest of his life, though.
He was a gentle man, haunted by a night he was accidentally a part of.
To get his feelings about the event he became a part of, here’s the last of the few interviews he gave about that night.
RIP, Paul.

RIP Paul although i must ask, why was he so haunted by the fact that he took the last photos of John Lennon , i understand that he was traumatized by John’s death but had he not been there Mark still would’ve killed John and even worse, there would’ve been no photos taken of this event so in a way he’s an unsung hero.

Survivors guilt, @Dark Overlord. People involved in traumatic events often wonder if they could have done anything to change things.
