May Friendly rest in peace. Just remember that dog lives are shorter than human ones, because dogs are better than humans and don’t need as long to become everyone’s friend.
I’ll also direct you to the words of John Woloschuk for comfort.

So sorry to read about this, AG. Just know that the day will come when you can think about the good times with your companion, and think of them with more smiles and laughter than tears and sadness.

Thank You Girl (s) and guys. These Words Of Love mean a lot.
Friday I had to speak at a library workshop in Oklahoma City. In all of the fog of worrying about Friendly and Ohhh Boy, I left my laptop in the restroom at the library where I was speaking. I called the library as soon as they opened, and, thankfully, they had my laptop in their lost and found drawer.
To begin the healing process, Ohhh Boy and I drove to OKC and retrieved my laptop. We stopped by the vet hospital where the vet drew the fluid out of Friendly’s chest on Wednesday and left a thank you note for her. Ohhh Boy’s mom told me to take him out to a nice restaurant, so I picked out a super swanky place, Micky Mantle’s Steakhouse in Bricktown. We didn’t have reservations, so we ended up eating in the bar area which turned out nicely. They had a live band, and we asked them if they could do a Beatles number. They did Twist And Shout .
EDIT: I forgot to add: When we asked the band if they could play a Beatles song, one of the band members said “Oh, yeah, in honor of George Harrison ‘s birthday”.

RIP to Alan Aldridge who died a few weeks ago and did some great Beatles drawings for The Beatles Illustrated Lyrics book among many others and some amazing psychedelic artwork.

The legendary blues harmonica player James Cotton passed yesterday (16th) from pneumonia at the age of 81.
He spent the early ’50s as a member of Howlin’ Wolf’s band, releasing a couple of singles on Sun, before Muddy Waters brought him into his band in 1955. Muddy alternated between Cotton and Little Walter for a while, though making Cotton his band leader.
Cotton would be Waters’ band leader until he quit to go solo in 1966.
Here he is (in the centre) with Johnny Winter and Muddy during the 1976 sessions for Muddy’s Hard Again:
All gone now. All gone to join that great blues band in the sky.
RIP James.

RIP Chuck!
You just beat me to it. The end of an era RIP. He was the Shakespeare of rock and roll. I always found it incredible that the giants of Rock and Roll Chuck, Jerry Lee, Fats and Little Richard have been around so long. I was reading an interview with him recently where he was talking about his dad’s theatre background and him reciting lines to him and there was a particular beautiful poem which Chuck could recite word for word which had similar theme to All Things Must Pass . I can’t remember the name of it. Only this week I was listening to John’s version of You Can’t Catch Me which is an incredible song. I know they always cited Elvis but I think Chuck Berry had a bigger influence on The Beatles than anyone.
EDIT: I just found the article from last year here and it’s a great read. http://www.rollingstone.com/mu…..nk-w443396 The poem was Even This Shall Pass Away by Theodore Tilton
Once in Persia reigned a king,
Who upon his signet ring
Graved a maxim true and wise,
Which, if held before his eyes,
Gave him counsel at a glance
Fit for every change and chance.
Solemn words, and these are they;
“Even this shall pass away.”
Trains of camels through the sand
Brought him gems from Samarcand;
Fleets of galleys through the seas
Brought him pearls to match with these;
But he counted not his gain
Treasures of the mine or main;
“What is wealth?” the king would say;
“Even this shall pass away.”
‘Mid the revels of his court,
At the zenith of his sport,
When the palms of all his guests
Burned with clapping at his jests,
He, amid his figs and wine,
Cried, “O loving friends of mine;
Pleasures come, but do not stay;
‘Even this shall pass away.’”
Lady, fairest ever seen,
Was the bride he crowned the queen.
Pillowed on his marriage bed,
Softly to his soul he said:
“Though no bridegroom ever pressed
Fairer bossom to his breast,
Mortal flesh must come to clay –
Even this shall pass away.”
Fighting on a furious field,
Once a javelin pierced his shield;
Soldiers, with a loud lament,
Bore him bleeding to his tent.
Groaning from his tortured side,
“Pain is hard to bear,” he cried;
“But with patience, day by day,
Even this shall pass away.”
Towering in the public square,
Twenty cubits in the air,
Rose his statue, carved in stone.
Then the king, disguised, unknown,
Stood before his sculptured name,
Musing meekly: “What is fame?
Fame is but a slow decay;
Even this shall pass away.”
Struck with palsy, sore and old,
Waiting at the Gates of Gold,
Said he with his dying breath,
“Life is done, but what is Death?”
Then, in answer to the king,
Fell a sunbeam on his ring,
Showing by a heavenly ray,
“Even this shall pass away.”
