Ahhh no not Allan! I hope Paul and Ringo finally pay his family what the band owed him all those years ago
It was always nice to see him in those unofficial Beatle documentaries, if you could count on anyone telling his part in The Beatles’ story it was Allan!
RIP

Whether it was embellished or not.
Paul McCartney , when asked by Allan to write a dedication for his book, wrote “To Allan, Some parts of this book are partially true”. That’s just one of the stories that have endeared him to me. He was quite a character.
Thank you Allan for your part in shaping The Beatles into what they became. I shudder at thinking how different musical history would have been if it wasn’t for you being in the right places at the right times – sometimes by accident!
R.I.P. Allan Richard Williams

I met Allan at events a few times back in the ’90s.
Always an interesting man, I had the pleasure of sharing a pint with him more than once.
Never entirely believable, but always entertaining.
Without Allan, maybe no Hamburg, and without Hamburg…
RIP Allan.

Of course 2016 had to hit us again. Hopefully this is the last time.
R.I.P. Allan Williams. I don’t want to think about what would have happened if you were never there to take the lads to Hamburg.
Thank you.

Nope. 2016 had one more trick up its sleeve. William Christopher (actor of my favourite character) from MASH (my favourite TV show) passed away December 31. RIP.

The first time we know of at least, wonder how many of the one post members or ones that dropped off the forum are now dead.
I asked a while back about if you died would the forum know about it. I’m sad to say that in the case of Matt Busby that we are able to know for sure.
Old question but no, if I died nobody here would know. I only have two relatives anyway, neither of whom are BB’ers.
I didn’t know Matt had passed away. I haven’t been very active the second half of the year, and I usually avoid the RIP topic because it’s such a sad place… It saddens me to hear of his passing. He and I exchanged PM’s a few times. I will remember Matt and his kindness fondly.

Well, my paternal grandfather passed away this morning at the age of 94. He’s been loosing his memory and becoming weaker, ever since my grandmother passed away about a year and a half ago. He just recently got over a bad case of pneumonia, so it was a little bit of a shock to hear the news.

Condolences, Williams Shears Campbell. It’s a loss at any age.
Did not know about Matt Busby; that certainly saddens me. Here’s a prayer to you, Matt Busby.

Rockabilly Pioneer Tommy Allsup Dead at 85
Tommy Allsup, a prolific guitarist whose career included sessions with a long list of well-known acts — and a lucky escape from one of rock’s most devastating tragedies — has died at the age of 85.
As the Houston Chronicle notes, Allsup played for a number of luminaries throughout his career, including Leon Russell and country greats Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash and George Jones. For decades, the Oklahoma native resided in west Texas, which remained his base of operations throughout the majority of his busy career.
Before all that, however, Allsup played for Buddy Holly — and was with the band on Feb. 3, 1959, the night they chartered a plane out of Clear Lake, Iowa, to make a date in Minnesota after the heating system on their tour bus broke down. That fateful decision ended in the crash that killed Holly, Ritchie Valens and J.P. Richardson, aka the Big Bopper, marking the date in infamy as “the day the music died.” If not for a coin flip held to settle a disagreement over the plane’s final seat, Allsup would have been on board.
According to those who knew him, Allsup used his second chance wisely, living an exemplary life of kindness and taking every opportunity to help honor Holly’s legacy. Telling the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal Allsup “got an additional 57 years and 11 months” out of the coin flip and “used it for good,” Allsup’s friend Randy Steele listed a few of his many virtues.
“He’s played with everybody from Buddy Holly to the Crickets to Willie Nelson to Merle Haggard — everybody; he’s played with ‘em, recorded with ‘em, done something, and yet he remained exactly the guy I met decades ago,” Steele told the paper. “I was literally in awe of him, not just because of his talent, but because of the kind of man he is. We’re all imperfect, we know that, we all have our flaws and have our moments, but boy, when it came to the fans and the music and all of that, on and off the stage, he was somebody that you wanted to be around.”
R.I.P.
