This is what it sounds like when doves cry. :'(

I stood at Prince’s feet in Las Vegas a couple of years ago, and it was almost a religious experience. He was SUCH an incredible musician.

This year has taken quite a toll.

This is just awful. How are we to make up for so many beautiful musicians? It seems like the most artistic people are the ones who live the most tragic lives and deaths. 🙁

I hate to admit that I’ve never heard much of his music, although his contribution to the last few minutes of this has always impressed me beyond words:

His solo starts at 3:27.

RIP

I hate Guardian updates on my phone now. Saw him at the first Australian tour 1991, which was long overdue. This is awful 🙁

Ah jeez, I wasn’t a massive fan of Prince but I always enjoyed the Purple Rain album (and laughing at the film). He was a class guitarist and never got enough credit as one, I think.

I wanted to see him when he played Slane Castle a few years back but I think the cheapest tickets were €100 so I thought “nay”.

Still sad to hear of his passing though. He will be missed.

A shame about Prince. I’ll never forget his performance during halftime of Super Bowl XLI when he played ‘Purple Rain ‘ in the rain.

We also lost a very funny lady earlier this week when Doris Roberts passed away.

I am so into RIP overload this year. I couldn’t even bring myself to comment on the loss of the most important British female comedian of the last 40 years yesterday (20th), Victoria Wood, from cancer at the age of 62.

And now Prince Rogers Nelson is added to list.

Going through your teens in the ’80s, there were three iconic American solo artists – Michael Jackson, Madonna, and Prince.

Prince was always the most musically gifted, the most innovative, the most awkward, the most weird. A true and total musical genius.

Given it seems he was found in a lift, and he suffered from epilepsy, it would not surprise me if his death was caused by a bad fit (I have some experience of the dangers of the illness as my mother suffers from it).

Here is one the greatest ever Superbowl halftime performances, from 2007 –

Such a dreadful, dreadful year. Let’s hope it doesn’t continue at this pace.

I hope he didn’t died of a sezuire because that’s the way my brother died at age 16. A horrible, yet somewhat peaceful way to go. I say peaceful because the majority of the time the person is unconscious, so they never know it happened.

Reports have been saying he had some type of flu last week. He was hospitalized, but released. I guess we’ll find out when the autopsy comes out.

RN , that half time performance is one I’ll remember for a very long time. Singing Purple Rain in the downpour… I remember we were all going nuts watching that.

Paul McCartney remembers ringing in 2016 with Prince

Paul McCartney is mourning the man with whom he rang in 2016. The former Beatle spent New Year’s Eve at a bash in St. Barts with Prince, who died Thursday at age 57.

“Saddened by Prince’s death. Proud to have seen in the New Year with him,” McCartney wrote on Twitter. “He seemed fine and played brilliantly funky music.”

God bless this creative giant,” he wrote in a second tweet. “Thanks Prince. Love X Paul.”

The pair of icons also crossed paths earlier in 2015 when they both performed at the after-party for Saturday Night Live’s 40th anniversary celebration.
