Are you joking? Have you not seen the reporting of celebrities? Huge chunks of the media love nothing more than reporting on famous people having babies, and often spend huge amounts of money for the first pictures of a baby born to celebrity parent(s).

Compared to how many deaths are reported, it is a very small amount.

Talking of babies I only found out yesterday that William (the future King of England – Scotland will have given up on the Royals by the time he gets the power) and Kate have two children. I know they had George but had completely forgotten (if i did ever actually know) that Charlotte came along afterwards.

When anything to do with the Royals is on the news I turn it off.

We on this forum may just tend to have older celebrities we look up to. We better start getting into some younger ones so maybe they won’t die before we do.

But there will always be more celebrities than celebrity babies. It is not as if every celebrity produces offspring every nine months. It’s been decades since Ringo had a baby to show off. The death of a famous individual, however, will always get some attention, even if it’s only a paragraph. And we live in an age of many talentless celebrities whose only talent is in getting publicity for doing, and being, nothing.

Sad days indeed! Most peculiar!

I know! Often times people who are not famous will get their deaths reported yet that almost never happens with births so next time someone goes to the hospital or some other place with babies, they could swing by the maternity ward and report all of the babies that are born!

Going off topic but for ages i thought Kim Kardashian was famous for doing nothing. Turns out she likes taking her clothes off and posting selfies of herself* – it was reported on the BBC before folk start thinking other thoughts.

*She may have done other stuff but i know nothing about her nor do I care to learn.

Shouldn’t this be in the “Things I learned today” thread?

Or is there something subtle I’m missing about why you decided this was the place to off-topic it?

And I missed that Ross Hannaford, former guitarist of seminal Aussie group Daddy Cool also died. I saw him live a few times, another great loss.

And so the crap news this year keeps throwing at us continues…

The death of keyboard player Keith Emerson (of Emerson, Lake and Palmer) at the age of 71 has been announced.

KE.jpgImage Enlarger

He will probably be best remembered for their version of Aaron Copeland’s Fanfare for the Common Man:

One of the truly great keyboardists, he will be missed.

RIP Keith.

The news of Keith Emerson’s death just got more tragic. The BBC are reporting he died of a self-inflicted gunshot to the head according to Santa Monica police.

Either that or he’s recording an album. He’s got a band, he’s got a producer, I’d keep an eye on Abbey Road and any ill engineers.

Perhaps he’s saving the best a-hard-days-night-paul-8 for last.

Or, he’s afraid Paul would come in and take over and tell everyone what and how to play. God wants to be Sgt. Pepper for a while so he’s leaving Paul here. That’s absolutely fine with me.
