Oh bugger…….
Last night I came across ‘Cilla’ a 3 part story of her life just prior to and just after Epstein took a hand in her career……I really enjoyed it…
Today I just read ……she’s died
RIP Cilla you were lovely. Your version of Alfie is the best.
Agreed – sad to hear she passed away.

The only major female artist to emerge from the Merseybeat scene, and Brian’s second favourite act he managed, it’s often forgotten just how big a singer Cyril (as John nicknamed her) was during the ’60s. She somehow managed to build herself an even bigger second career as a television presenter with Blind Date and Surprise, Surprise.
She was a special lady who will be sadly missed. This is a very, very sad day.
She gave us a lorra, lorra laughs over the years.
Reunited with her beloved Bobby, may she rest in peace.
Very nice words @Ron Nasty. I have nothing to add except to say how sad I am to hear of her passing.

Just heard about the death of Frank Gifford, former American Football player and sports commentator.
I don’t really know that much about him, but he played a part in that dark December night 35 years ago.
In the days before rolling news, satellite TV, and the internet, much of America heard the news from Monday Night Football. Frank Gifford was sitting alongside Howard Cosell. Cosell was a friend of John’s. The news came through during an ad break. There was much discussion about what to do. His is the voice who says, “I don’t care what’s on the line, Howard, you have got to say what we know in the booth.”
And then Howard broke the dreadful news of the murder of his friend to much of America…
RIP to the “Giff”.

Thanks for posting that, RN. When I heard the news yesterday that Frank had passed, my first memory of him was that fateful night.
If anyone heard that clip that RN posted, you could tell that Frank was the voice of reason in the broadcast booth. Not just that night, but every Monday night. He was the buffer between Howard Cosell and fellow game analyst “Dandy” Don Meredith . Sadly, they are now all gone.
A few additional notes about Frank:
Back in the 50’s and 60’s the biggest sports stars in New York were baseball’s Mickey Mantle of the Yankees and football’s Frank Gifford of the Giants.
Although he retired from footbal in 1964, he still holds the New York Giants record for most touchdowns in a career with 78.
Everything else aside, he was a true gentleman. I’ve never heard a bad word spoken about him. He was one of the greats.
American sports fans lost a true legend yesterday. My condolences go out to his family, friends and everyone else who knew and loved him. I will miss him dearly.
R.I.P. Frank

I just saw that it’s been a year since Robin Williams passed, it feels like it was a just a month ago. I grew up watching that guy’s films and it’s strange to think that’s he not around anymore…

I just received a letter in the mail today that my doctor passed away of Lukemia on July 19th, 2015. I loved having him as my doctor. He helped me with my health so much and was such a kind person. I haven’t seen him since, late 2013, and I miss him so much more now that I’m never going to see him again. I’ve known him all my life, and my family is devastated

Actress Yvonne Craig, best known for her role as Batgirl, dies at 78
LOS ANGELES – Actress Yvonne Craig, best known for her role as Batgirl on the 1960s TV series “Batman,” has passed away from cancer at the age of 78.
An obituary posted to Craig’s website says she passed away at her home in Los Angeles on Monday from complications brought about from breast cancer that metastasized to her liver.
According to her obituary, Craig spent many years in the film and television industry and was in two movies with Elvis Presley. The highlight of her career, however, came in 1966 when she played the original role of Batgirl. She is also known for playing the character “Marta” in the third season of Star Trek.
Craig starred in a number of television series throughout her life and worked opposite Bing Crosby, George Hamilton, Dennis Hopper and James Coburn, among others, her obituary says.
Later in life, Craig worked as a real estate broker before going into the prepaid phone card business and then writing a book in 2000 titled, “From Ballet to the Batcave and Beyond.”
More recently, Craig did voice work on a cartoon series for Nickelodeon and was the executive producer on the documentary film “BIRTH.”
In a statement on Craig’s website, her family touted her successes, saying, “Yvonne excelled in ballet, a film career, a business life, as well as in philanthropic and charity work over the years. She had been able to do this with joy and much laughter and she wouldn’t have changed a thing. Well, maybe one thing and that would have been not to get cancer.”
Craig is survived by her husband, sister and nephews.
RIP

Film director Wes Craven has died. I grew up watching the ‘Nightmare on Elm Street’ films, first one when about 10 years old where it scared the living daylights out of me so much that i wouldnt sleep with the light off for weeks. No horror movie has came close to scaring me as much as those. And then reinvented the horror genre with ‘Scream’.
I’m sad over this.

I regret to announce that around 20 hours ago, my right big toe was involved in a head-on collision with the corner of my living room door. Much to regret, and horrific feelings of pain, my toenail suffered fatal injuries. I tried all I could to save it. Soaking my foot in salt water allowed me to open up an elevator shaft through to the three floors above in the block of flats I live. I will have to give the lady in number 23 a knock to apologise for interrupting her bath.
Unfortunately, and with a huge rip of personal pain, my right big toe toenail left me at approx. 22.27 bst. I am still in tears as I try to cope with just how painful a loss when my severely damaged toenail caught on the sofa-throw and was ripped from me in moments of excritiating pain. I may need to see a doctor tomorrow.
Ow! Ow! Oooowwwww!
RIP, my right big toe toenail!!!
(Do they grow back? Never lost a whole nail before!)
