I would have thought so too, until I saw that… thing… above*. 
But really, we have to be forgiving. During his long and illustrious career, he’s only very rarely slipped up from his usual uncrackable grace. 
As Angela Barnett said, ‘David is incapable of making an unappealing move’ (or something like that — I can’t find the quote now so I may be delusional, you never know) — this was probably before Crystal Japan and Dancing In The Street, but she’s mostly right.
I think that’s why it hurts so much when Bowie does something stupid, because we’ve come to expect so much more from him.

Offline Thought you might appreciate that, @Beatlebug.
The guy behind it did a jaw-dropping job. I pressed play expecting the usual slightly dodgy jamming together of tracks that don’t really fit only to find he’d somehow made John’s vocal, the Mike Sammes Singers backing vocals, and Radiohead a perfect fit.

As much as I greatly support the need for guide animals, I definitely wouldn’t want to bump into any – practically all animals give me quite severe hayfever so I wouldn’t want to find myself sitting next to a horse on the train!
