As a note, if you’re wondering why The Cosmos Rocks isn’t on this list, it has nothing to do with the fact that it’s labeled as Queen and Paul Rogers rather than Queen because i do consider the album to be a Queen album, it’s because that the album sounds like what stepping on a Lego barefoot feels like, sorry Paul but Freddie is simply irreplaceable.

So it sounds like this?

My history teacher, who I often have extensive musical discussions with (he’s known to approach me in class with questions like “What are your top 5 Kinks songs” and “Describe the musical output of Dire Straits in one word”), unfortunately lost some of his credibility with me the other day when he claimed A Night At The Opera was the best album ever. However, when I asked him his reasons, I was able to refute every single one e.g I refuted his praise for Bohemian Rhapsody by pointing out that several songs such as Good Vibrations and A Day In The Life had employed a similar approach that works and fits together way better, years before BR.

I've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

I couldn’t manage one either, but I think I referred to the guitar whilst saying that I disliked the singing.

A Night At The Opera is a great album and probably Queen’s best album but i can’t say it’s the best album of all time, especially when compared to such classics as Sgt. Pepper ‘s Lonely Hearts Club Band and The Dark Side Of The Moon.

Agreed. I’ve named several albums with the title before, but nowadays I don’t think there is one singular candidate, just as there isn’t one for the greatest song of all time. However, it’s not a stretch to call the Beatles the best band of all time.
