Last Wednesday, Pixies played for the first time in Buenos Aires… I was there, of course.
They were terrific. One of the best shows I ever saw, I feel like I'm still not touching the earth. They also have some beatles feeling I can't quite describe… those melodies, that mix of hard and soft edges… Do you know what I mean? I think “Here comes your man” and “Wave of Mutilation” are very beatle-like.
Anyway, I love Pixies!
I'd like to say "thank you" on behalf of the group and ourselves and I hope we passed the audition.

(And yes the math is WEIRD!!)

I'm not sure, I'm paying my new guitar (yes, another one, just like I the last time, I promised this is the last one I buy), Pavement is coming to Buenos Aires too… I'm not sure…
I'm sure he will play some Beatle songs, but I'm not actually fond of Paul's solo carreer… And I finally, I started to save money for a trip to Japan, a big dream of mine…
In few words, I think is more a “No” than a “Yes” to your question…
Talking about math: the super-ultra-vip-you-can-touch-paul's-ass-in-backstage-if-you-pay-this-ticket is about (US$) $1600.- Can you f*cking believe it???

I saw Pixies in Manchester a few years ago, shortly after they reformed. They've been one of my all-time favourite bands since I was 14 or 15 (1990/1) and someone in my class lent me a cassette of Doolittle.
I'd like to see them again if they tour here, as the time I saw them was at a music festival and not a headline show.

WTF???? In Mexico they only cost 500 USD!!!!!! Of course you couldn't touch Paul's ass …
Man I understand your pain. It's hard to decide. I did it because I truly truly wanted to go and my sister encouraged me to do it. I don't regret it at all

I think the VIP tickets in Cardiff were about £800 ($1300 USD). Way too much for me. I presume he sells very few tickets, and gives away the rest to competition winners, charities etc.
Mithveaen – did you have a VIP ticket in Mexico? I didn't know that.

No I didn't Joe, and if I had had enough money I wouldn't have gotten one though. The only worth about them is the front seat and the sound check. The other stuff, free drinks and the merchandise is not that good trust me. My niece went to Bon Jovi's concert in Foro Sol few weeks ago and she got a VIP. She says it was ok because she was just a few steps of Bon Jovi, but that the stuff (a bag and other things) wasn't that good.
I got a Platino ticket ($300 USD) because my Dad is kind of biased about concerts in Mexico City, so he told me not to go to the standing area. I didn't mind the price, and my friends that go to concerts a lot said “Considering that is Paul McCartney and his concerts are always good, it's a fair price”.
The “you couldn't touch Paul's ass” was a joke because it wasn't in the list of things to do with a VIP ticket. Now I have seen in Paul's youtube video people in concerts on a line getting Paul's autograph. I wonder if that was included in Mexico VIP's concert.. I think not.

I loved Come on Pilgrim and Surfer Rosa back in '88 but was disappointed by Doolittle when it came out…I know it's better than i remembered, but I still never heard another note of Pixies music. (Nor Frank Black's solo career)
Probably my loss, but that was my pattern in my late teens/early 20s: get disappointed by a band's new album & give up on them forever! LOL
GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.
Dootlittle is a good album. I think it's the starting point for a lot of Pixies fans, though I think Trompe Le Monde has probably dated better. The only one I find disappointing is Bossanova.
Frank Black's solo stuff is quite patchy, and I haven't heard it all, but the first album (Frank Black) is pretty much what a sixth Pixies album (if you include Come On Pilgrim) might have sounded like if they'd kept going. And Headache, from the follow-up, is a great song.
