There’s a new Pink Floyd book out there.
That looks really good , I might get that one: it seems to be written by a sympathetic musician. I’ve always been confused by the band’s internal dynamics and their relationship if any to the output. This might be a way into understanding that, because we know a lot about the Beatles background and so little of the Floyds.

edit edit: also the price is rather inviting compared to the RRP in Australia!

Yes, that’s part of their allure to me — how separate their music and image seemed to be from the actual four (and sometimes five or three) blokes behind it. I’ve done a fair bit of reading and I fancy I have a pretty good idea of what they were about, but the truth is I know very little compared to how much I know/it’s quite easy to know about the Beatles. I mean, there’s no Pink Floyd Bible (how I wish there was…!)

Offline This is a doco about Kate Bush but it has David in it, and there’s a funny moment where he talks about the songs he was showing record company a&r and he still doesn’t know what they’re about. Imagine it though, writing over 100 songs at 15 years old and being that original. Big fan, but you have to give her songs time to sink into you, she’s not easy listening.
