There are 2 blocks that would be enclaved from Maryland, the first containing the White House, the US Treasury, and Eisenhower executive office building and the second containing the capitol building, Supreme Court, and Library of Congress, plus a 3rd enclave for the Pentagon, which is currently part of Virginia.

What ones did i miss?
The department of state like RN mentioned. I also saw the department for veteran’s affairs and a couple of others, and presumably there are more that I didn’t see.

Thanks you guys, i forgot about those. Any building with nationwide political power would be enclaved, with the exception of the United Nations, which would be moved to either the Bir Tawil or Marie Byrd Land in Antarctica to ensure that one country doesn’t have all the power (and also that the UN is only used for serious matters since most people wouldn’t go to Antarctica just to complain about trivial things).

What do people think of Trump’s recent “Trump 2024” tweet, indicating (as I’ve previously suggested) that he could be looking to overturn the two-term constitutional limit?
Should a US President be allowed more than two terms, and if they should, how would Trump do against Obama, who would obviously be back in the game if term limits were abolished?

No to more than two terms.
Another important building in D.C. is the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. I went on the tour where you can watch dollar Bill’s being made. Very cool!
The National Archives is very important too.
A few others…
The Federal Reserve building
The Federal Trade Commission building
four buildings used by the United States House of Representatives as offices
Robert F. Kennedy Department of Justice building

Slow down there, i like to give this thread at least a day of inactivity before changing the topic (unless the topic becomes uncivil) to ensure people get a chance to reply before i change it, whereas you posted this 55 minutes after my last post.
As for your question, he could be planning on doing a Grover Cleveland where he runs for 2024 if he loses 2020 but if he’s planning to exceed the 2 term limit, he’s going to have a very hard time convincing everyone to repeal the 22nd amendment so i think it’s a non-issue.
But if he’s somehow able to repeal the 22nd amendment, we’d immediately know that he bribed public officials and use that as grounds of impeachment because the extreme difficulty of repealing a constitutional amendment, especially one out of greed as opposed to the greater good of our society, would be practically impossible. And because of that, Obama would fare much better than Trump if that was the case.

Are you the only one allowed to change topics?
I’m split on the idea of 2 terms. I like the idea of why it’s in place, but at the same time, if the country has a great President why couldn’t they continue?

Trump was joking…….But I think two terms is probably enough…..A great rule for the avoidance of dictators.
Almost all political careers end in failure ….Two term Presidents can quit while they are ahead……..The rule also means that Presidents have certain freedoms in their 2nd term to risk unpopularity in the cause of actually being effective leaders….Which isn’t always served best by pandering to Party focus groups.
This doesn’t apply to Trump who has from day one done, or tried to do exactly what he said he would……..Whatever the risks are to his popularity.
In that sense he’s the complete opposite to the UK PM we had in the 1960’s the skeletal Sir Alec Douglas Home……..His claim to fame was that he came and went a year later without doing anything of note as PM at all……..Nothing……His wiki reference suffers from a suitable brevity……..A decent Foreign Secretary but a walking cadaver as PM…….Obviously he was on to something……He was quite well respected…….

Oops, i should’ve said one of us instead of i but still, i think giving it some time is good so people aren’t responding to 2 completely different questions simultaneously.

I’d agree if American politics weren’t so f’d up. Our electoral college and 2 party system prevents any honest candidate from standing a chance against the greedy authoritarian right-wing Republicans and Democrats. Say what your party wants to hear and you’ll keep getting elected until you die, step outside of the box (or be a member of a 3rd party) and you’ll be ostracized from the world of politics.

I wouldn’t exclude Trump from the list.
Trump used to be a Democrat who was friends with Hillary Clinton and supported things like drug legalization, affirmative action, and abortion but switched parties 6 times until he finally decided to stick with the Republican party in 2012, abandoning those beliefs (as well as his friendship with the Clintons) and instead focusing his attention to Republican things like building an expensive border wall with Mexico.

A good point about Party control and herd mentality…….97% of Drs agree babies should sleep on their stomachs…….10 years lated 97% of Drs agree babies should sleep on their backs…..
People change their minds…….Particularly when circumstances change…..Whether it’s political opportunism or conscience depends on the spin and sometimes the viewpoints and allegiances of the observer……
As for Trump……I didn’t know much about him until recently…….Changing parties happens …After-all Winston Churchill, crossed the floor from the Conservatives to the Liberals in 1904, later crossing back in 1924.

Where’s your evidence Trump was joking about “Trump 2024”, @Wigwam?
Isn’t the first time he’s referenced the 22nd Amendment, and you wouldn’t expect him to start seriously challenging on the 22nd until he’s got his second term.
I see no reason to think he’s not sowing seeds among his supporters for further down the road.
After all, what advantage would he get from abolishing the two term limit if he doesn’t get his second term? And if he doesn’t get his second term, he could run in 2024 anyway.

I don’t think Melania would be very happy with Trump running for more than two terms, given that she was reportedly furious at Donald for winning after he repeatedly reassured her he had no chance and was running for the statement. (I don’t fully trust my source here, but it’s certainly believable).
I’m definitely against a President having more than 2 terms. If I had my way, I’d have them impose term limits in the Senate and House too.
