Yes, finally someone who shares the same opinion as me. Zoos are basically museums for animals, aka LIVING THINGS THAT HAVE SOULS TOO, and it GETS PAID just for people looking at animals that may be sick/sad/tired.

I agree too!!!!
But, one thing: releasing those animals would be a bad idea. They don’t have/lost any ability to hunt their food, and would survive a week at most in the wild.
Otherwise, animals shouldn’t be kept in cages.

What’s your thoughts on animal captivity such as in places such as zoos and aquariums. I personally think that animals belong in the wild and that places like zoos are wrong because they are keeping animals out of their natural habitat, especially when this animal is capable of killing someone which they will do if they’re pissed off and good luck fighting a killer whale or grizzly bear. It’s best we just keep these animals alone instead of taking them away from their home and putting them in a zoo and forcing them to live in a cage just for exhibition. If i could, i’d shut down all zoos and force them to place their animals back in the wild where they belong.
Well, all in all, I agree with you. Especially birds in cages are a very sad sight and in many zoos, the animals are kept in horrible conditions. But zoos still fulfil an important task: they offer protection and a home for animals of an endangered species and help to enlarge the population of this species so that the species won’t be endangered anymore.
But in general I find the idea of captured animals to have humans stare at them sick too.
Not once does the diversity seem forced -- the genius of the record is how the vaudevillian "When I'm 64" seems like a logical extension of "Within You Without You" and how it provides a gateway to the chiming guitars of "Lovely Rita. - Stephen T. Erlewine on Sgt Pepper's

Well, unfortunately, even PETA is not doing anything.

Groups like PETA often care more about money and making themselves look good than the things they are trying to support although this was surprising to me considering these groups usually do more stupid but petty stuff, which PETA does as well with stuff such as encouraging people to prevent their pets from having children and making such a big deal about Mario wearing a raccoon suit but actually killing animals is absurd, especially over 1,000 per year.
As for the dangers of releasing these animals out into the wild, we could try to transition them into the wild but you’re right, some of these animals were born into captivity and don’t know life elsewhere so it’ll be hard for them.

I refuse to go in zoos and haven’t been for 15+ years, hate them. Also hate safari parks, yes they are slightly better but is the equivalent of being trapped in one room or a house for some animals. You also get those horrific Birds of Prey events where hawks, eagles etc are chained to pieces of wood so humans can gawp slightly out of reach, probably because the birds would attack, being stuck on a piece of wood as they are.
One of the most infuriating acts I see humans carry out is killing an animal when we invade its territory – if you go near a bear then expect some kind of reaction you stupid idiot(s). If you go in the sea where sharks are and you get eaten then very simply you are a twit, and a nice meal for the shark.
Will never understand the thinking of taking over an animal’s habitat, forcing them out, and humans get pissed off when they return.

If only we could still multi-thank, I would have tried to multithank that post umpteen times! What do you think the animals are gonna do, let you invade? Would you let a burglar into your house with no fight? Of course not, so why should animals? T***s…

Although it’s stupid and wrong to invade an animal’s territory and i can understand why the animal would be pissed off, i can also justify killing said animal in that situation as i’d much rather someone shoot a grizzly bear in the head than someone die a slow and painful death because they made a stupid choice.

Not sure why the animal should be killed if a human decides to invade it’s territory.

Only as humans continue to encroach in animal territory. All we are doing is f*****g up the world with our delusions of grandeur and self-worth.

Think of it this way, let’s say Jimmy decides to make a stupid choice one day and invade the lion’s territory so the lions viciously maul him to death, which is what would most likely happen to someone if they were to get too close to the animal. Knowing that animals won’t reason with you if they’re pissed off, it’s either that, you kill the lions, or you inject them with tranquilizers which will make the lion go to sleep in theory. However, not everyone has easy access to these things but they might have access to a gun or object that can kill the animal and the darts might not work.
I don’t think that Jimmy should have to die because of his stupid choices and i’d rather him kill the lion than have the animals kill him and unlike us humans who use humane ways of killing like a gunshot to the head, animals couldn’t care less about that so they’ll maul you to death and you’ll die most likely from blood loss, which is a lot slower than say a well placed head shot or getting decapitated and nothing sucks more than having to watch and feel being viciously mauled by an animal going full force at you and with so much pain that it would make Chuck Norris cry for his mommy and it’s not like you can outrun these guys, even if you were capable of running at an insane 25 MPH, the lion or bear can easily outrun you.

What do you guys think about people saying that they hate zoos or circuses because they’re unethical, but then those same people pay others to torture and kill animals for them???
If this is one of those arguments of you can have no regard for animals if you like eating bacon then the argument is bollocks. If not then you will have to clarify your post.

Man (plural) is often presented as being above and separate from the animal kingdom. I am well aware we are animals at our core.

There are some very impressive zoos with wide space that allow the animals to be as free as possible and that also help with genetic diversity in species with low numbers, and also give endangered species a chance to survive. It’s not the best solution for animals, I’d much prefer reserves but until poachers and idiots cop on and stop killing rare animals they’re one of the best options we have.
