What are your thoughts on machine learning?
Like a bot can be programed to learn a users posting style and replicate it. Like if I had a bot search all my posts and then gave it access to my account, then a Starr Bot? Would be posting instead of me.
This could be done to any member though the more posts the better.

I like the idea of bots however i also think that we need to prevent them from taking over the world, so we need to program bots to not kill people. Also, in your case i don’t like the idea because this is a Beatles forum where human interaction is essential, i’d be really pissed off if i found out that one of the regular users was a bot.

Pretty much my exact viewpoint.

If an active user was found out to be a bot, why would that upset you? Like for example, if you found out I was a bot, what would change?

Forum-wise, I think you have to know who you are speaking to is who and what they say they are. Without that you have nothing, or far less than ideal; it makes no difference if it’s a human or robot.

The problem with robots is that it’s nearly impossible to reason with them because robots are computers which are a combination of on or off AKA 0 or 1 commands, so if a programmer makes an error when coding the robot, stuff can go terribly wrong and people could get seriously hurt if the robot isn’t reprogrammed or destroyed quickly enough, this is also why i believe that robots shouldn’t have rights like humans and other animals.

Robots may be able to learn if programmed correctly but even so, i think a world where there are more robots than humans sounds like a living hell to me, especially if robots are given power such as a robot president and also, if they can learn to be good that also means they can learn to be evil and revolt and use violence to overthrow humans, similar to Conquest Of The Planet Of The Apes, but with robots instead of apes.

There are probably more robots than humans right now.
I think people make a bigger deal about a robot apocalypse than they really should.

What could that thing do to you?
And besides, this is more about program bots that are on forums. Not robots whoch are diffrent.

I agree. Especially when it comes to all that technological singularity stuff. I’m a big skeptic about that. I doubt that we’ll ever be able to create AI that comes close to that.

For those who believe in the afterlife, what do you think it’s like?

Since I’ve changed my opinion on the subject since my last time discussing it, i’ll discuss it here. I believe in reincarnation, which means that you get a new life after you die but i also believe that there’s a brief period in between lives that you could call an afterlife which is pure darkness.

I’m pretty much 50/50 when it comes to the idea of an afterlife. My science head tells me that there is nothing after death but my curious head does sometimes wonder whether there is something. When I think about the afterlife it’s normally when I think about ghosts and stuff, which i’m intrigued by.
Echoing what @sir walter raleigh said I don’t think it’s possible to predict what said afterlife would be

I think this thread needs reviving so here’s a new question.
Do you think America should get rid of the penny, i think they shouldn’t because that will cause prices to rise. I do however believe that the penny needs to be redesigned. You see, it costs about 1.7 cents to make a penny, which is a zinc circle with a copper coating, 95% zinc and 5% copper to be precise. What we need to do is make pennies thinner and with cheaper material. How about we have a penny made of wood that’s 25% the thickness of a present day penny and coat the outside with zinc as opposed to copper to save money. Sure, it may be easier to break than a normal penny but then again, bills are easy to break and since $0.01 is far less important than $100, i don’t see it as a problem.

$1.05 vs $1.04 such a big change. Worth spending money on making over-expensive pennies or spending money on making a new penny.
