Except child porn leaves victims, whereas cannabis consumption does not. Its a personal choice that affects only you vs. funding a market that kidnaps and rapes children. It isn’t even close to the same thing.
In fact, illegal drugs allow funding to the cartel and other rings that in fact to hurt and kill people.

That’s why I think that drugs should be legal. Let’s say I wanted to smoke some crack and I went to my local drug dealer who sold me some crack that was laced with poison which I was unaware about so I take it and then I die in my sleep. If it was legal, I could just safely buy the crack and not have to worry about that stuff.

Offline I like how these topics gradually change.
Don’t get me wrong, watching child porn is wrong but do you really deserve to be beat up, raped, and stabbed in prison and then once you get out have to register as a sex offender just because of it, would you really want a 55 year old man living with his mother and being unemployed because him and his friend were caught buying child porn VHS tapes back in 1986, it’s not like people are willing to hire a sex offender. Also, why would you watch that stuff just to report it.

Maybe if somebody thought that they were watching a legal adult but they turned out to be a 17 year old I may have sympathy, but I think you deserve whatever punishment comes to you if you get off to little children getting raped.

Offline Why would an adult having sexual intercourse with a 17 year old be illegal. I know she is still technically a minor but I think 17 is fine and some states allow people to have sex with anyone 16 or older as long as they consent and aren’t related (this doesn’t apply to Rhode Island) or mentally retarded or otherwise mentally incapable of agreeing to sexual intercourse.

Offline Since we’re on the topic, what do you think of pornography, as in whether you think it’s ok for people to watch it. I think it’s fine as long as:
1. the sexual acts are done by consenting adults.
2. the person watching it is mature enough.
3. it doesn’t interfere with your relationships, such as refusing to have sex with your girlfriend because you’re watching porn.

Offline 18 year old guy here, born into the age of the internet and smartphones.
I’ve no problem with watching porn. I do it myself, and I think it can be a healthy habit to control your sexuality, as long as you aren’t becoming reliant on it. If you suffer from a Porn addiction, which is very real and very serious, you may end up staying home instead of going out with friends and forming actual relationships, which is bad.
But in moderation, I think it can increase the lifespan of relationships and while it is not something that should often be openly discussed, it should be accepted for what it is.

Offline What do you guys think about the use of the word mentally retarded to refer to someone who is severely mentally disabled. I don’t have a problem with it at all. Hell, it really pisses me off that people would try to change the proper term from retarded to intellectual disability for a few reasons, the main one being that retard is just a term to refer to someone with an IQ lower than 70.
You see, politically correct people think that the term should be changed to something else because the word is often used as an insult but that’s not a good way to deal with it because intellectual disability can easily be used as an insult, so can autistic, down syndrome, Asperger’s, etc., so that’s why I think it’s perfectly acceptable to use the word retarded as a medical term to refer to mentally disabled people with an IQ below 70.

Offline Times change and so does language. You’re not even supposed to call somebody mentally disabled, really. What you are supposed to say is “a person with a cognitive disability”. I agree that whatever is a “politically correct” term for that group of people can be used as an insult, though. Getting rid of that word does not abate negative feeling people have for people with cognitive disabilities, which is the real issue with how the word retarded is used.
