Philosophy, eh?…
Well, I like to make people happy. I don’t really understand sadness, and I can find it hard to relate to pain, so I try to cheer people up if they’re down by pointing out silver linings and making light of problems, which is probably very irritating under some circumstances.
I can be appallingly apathetic about everything I’m not deeply inspired by/passionate about. My top three archetypes are Fool, Creator, and Innocent, so I’m a mostly happy-go-lucky person who never works on less than five projects at once, finds self-discipline extremely difficult (at the moment, I’m procrastinating going to bed), and basically figures everything will be all right, eventually — but at the very least I’ll be all right, I’ll make sure of that.
And yes, I do get into that Jungian stuff. I find it intriguing.
Also, is there a term ending in ‘-phile’ for someone who is asexual but thinks George Harrison was/is the sexiest thing on two legs?
Oh yeah… Harriphile.

On second thoughts, this quote from Tara Browne’s wife Nicki pretty much sums it up:
Try everything once, make the world a little bit better for other people if you can; try not to hurt anyone if you can avoid it; wear pretty clothes, and, most importantly, live your life.

How, that’s impossible
I think that social maturity is just as important as biological maturity. In my church, we have a rule that we’re not allowed to date until we are 16. I also find that many other families not part of the church instate similar rules in their household. When I was younger, I thought of it as a restrictive thing, but now that I look back, it was more of a protective thing. No offense to any of you youngins on here, but generally 12-15 yearolds tend to be very immature. I know when I was 12-15, I was kinda an idiot. Moving the age of consent down to 13 is a bad idea, since 13 yearolds don’t have the proper social maturity, or the common sense to make proper decisions and could very well do something that they’ll regret for the rest of their lives. If it were up to me, I’d actually move the age of consent up to 18, since that’s when one is legally considered an adult.

I agree with moving the age of consent to 18, but I must say, for my age, I’m very mature and serious. I’m 14 with the maturity of a 28 year old. That’s what I keep getting told, anyway!

Jan 20th will be a dark day for America. All the Human Rights work done here in the passed 75+ years can be wiped out if not drastically reduced, because there are those who live emotion-free. “Ppl are poor or sick or broke or jobless or homeless because they are bums or dope fiends..it’s all their fault”. These logical ppl think nothing of condemning millions to refugee status within their own country. They’ve been trying to do this for decades, and now the machinery is in place. For this I am sad & angry (emotional). Presently, it is illogical to me that ppl can do this to the suffering around us. It will not last, this sadistic glee of robotic logical emotion free bad men.
Love each other. Let the Light of Compassion flood your heart. As Donovan once sang, “Be not to hard, for nothing is given to man.”

Silly Girl, you may be demisexual, also, you can still be romantically interested in people while being asexual.

Good to know.
I don’t care that much about labels, though… at the end of the day (and the beginning, too, usually), I am who I am, and labels don’t change that, they just help to define it for others.

Can we make the age of consent be 2 years after the individual has proven that they can provide for himself/herself/make their own way financially?
Probably not.

I thought this was a joke at first, because I initially read it as you wanted to make the age of consent 2, and then you made a sarcastic comment about how 2 year olds can provide for themselves.

With child actors, the age of consent can be like seven years old then.

I may not be the one to talk to, considering I’ve never had sex, but I personally think that 18 is a little to high, I think 16 would be nice because 16 and 17 year olds have about the same maturity as 18 year olds. Also, you don’t have to follow all of your churches rules to worship your religion, if that were the case, all Christians would be homophobic and would be strong supporters of violence.

Although I do feel bad for those people who are homeless (especially the convicted felons (especially the former sex offenders who are trying to reform themselves but just get spit on by society) and drug addicts), not all civil rights will be taken away. Blacks won’t become slaves, Women can still vote, Being gay is still legal, it’s just because we give too much people welfare and there are a lot of panhandlers that the poor and homeless are thought of badly.

What sort of 7 year old wants to have sex.

Want doesn’t matter with legality, just because you can do something doesn’t mean you will.

People are like snowflakes in that every single one is different. Perhaps there are people capable of giving informed consent at the age of 12, there are many many more who are, as a practical matter, incapable of giving it at 18. Any time there is an age difference / authority relationship, even a fiduciary relationship there is a possibility of coercion. The law sets an “age” of consent for simplicity and predictability but it no more represents the truth of a person’s ability to meaningfully consent to sexual activity any more than achieving the age of 18 really makes every person qualified to choose the leadership of the country. Ages of consent vary from state to state. But the bottom line is that there are MANY situations where one might legally give consent but in a moral sense that consent is meaningless.
There is no right answer to this question other than to say that in terms of morality it depends on the people and the situation and in terms of legality the age of consent is a functionally arbitrary number.

In some societies, young people went through “rites of passage” to become adults. Boys had to build a house or go kill an animal to feed a family and girls had to sew a dress and tend a garden or things like that (what was needed to survive in that society). I guess that was what I was thinking. If you prove your “adulthood” then you can consent.
