Audiences who don’t clap in time with the song. In the video below the singer, Brian Houston, picks the audience up on it during the song.

Not me going on strike, @Starr Shine?, but my gmail account just because I used it a little bit. Barsteward thing! Been locked down a couple of hours-or-so so far!
Thank-you for the sentiment though.

Internet analogies.
They often go way over the top and invariably end up mentioning the Nazis.
Person A: “I had this guy barge in front of me at the checkout line at Marks and Sparks”
Person B: “How rude!!”
Person C: “Sounds like what the Nazis did in Poland”
Almost everyone else: “WTF??”

From the early days of the internet, citing the Nazis or Hitler was considered to be a forfeiture of the argument. It’s funny how many arguments, on totally different subjects, ended with a Nazi comparison. There was a big forum called usenet (pretty much the social center of the internet until enough web pages were created to make browsers interesting – from about 1985 to 1998), that had discussion groups on all different subjects, from technical to ridiculous. Many arguments (flamewars) happened, and when one person said the other was as bad as Hitler everyone knew the accuser had lost it.
There was even a topic (i believe it was called ‘alt.flamewars-tactical’) where they planned and carried out invasions of other groups. They’d pick some innocent group, a few of them would go there for a month or two and become trusted regulars, then they’d start a flamewar. Then others of them would argue the other side, trying to get the actual regulars upset and fighting. Their goal was to bring the signal to noise ratio of the group so low that all the serious members gave up on it and the group folded.
There were also very useful areas, discussion groups on all the various computer languages, sciences, child rearing (although that group was prone to flamewars, it was also very close knit – we actually made tshirts, fridge magnets, and yearbooks a couple years), recipes and cooking…anything you could think of. There were about 800 different groups in 1988 and about 15,000 in 1998)
Ok there’s your internet history lesson for today lol. You can find what’s become of usenet at http://www.dejanews.com.

And those who speak even tho they have nothing to add to the actual conversation.
And the two together and i’m considering the quickest way to death.

A lot of folks in the country seem to do this – I guess they have a more relaxed view of the world – like the ents in the Lord of the Rings.

And: when people switch between topics like the Beatles change musical styles– that is, every three seconds or so.

Doing out CVs & Cover Letters.
I’m currently trying to get work experience for 2 weeks in February that will hopefully lead onto summer work for me. I really hope I get a good place like a tourist office or a large department store rather than a restaurant .
Not that there’s anything wrong with restaurants of course, if it’s the only offer I get, I’ll happily take it.

Do/did you have anyone with good experience to help with your CV’s and letters @AppleScruffJunior? If you can make them both look professional and stand out then you’ll get hired in no time. Maybe you already have. It’s amazing how many folk just throw theirs in without any thought and then are surprised at the lack of replies.
I was one of those people with my CV until my brother-in-law got his hands on it. No idea how he did it but it made such a difference.

Just my career guidance teacher, last year she kept on telling me to study Mandarin and Business in Dublin….
“But miss I want to be fluent in French and German before I take on something as challenging as Mandarin besides how will I know if I like it?”
“Think of the jobs ASJ…”
“But German is the language of Commerce at the moment! And it’s far easier to learn than Mandarin!”
“………………………………………………………………………………………………….alright then”.
