@Zig Some movie theaters are starting to serve alcohol too, as well as a full four-course meal. My parents live on the upscale side of downtown Charlotte, and they have a movie theater like that. Salad, your meal, dessert, wine and beer on tap… and you get to watch your movie in La-Z-Boy type chairs, couches and loveseats.

Why would you want to go to see a movie theatre and have your dinner whilst doing so. Its bad enough hearing folk unwrapping their wrappers and asking for the popcorn to be handed to them – to hear folk trying to find their dropped cutlery or scrambling about to find that potato that has rolled off the table would take the annoyance levels up about 5 notches.

Pessimist? No.
Champion of basic human decency? You betcha!
Hmm, are we all introverted types here?
And with all those facilities, one might as well watch movies in their home.

Nice home cooked meal before, snacks that cost you the normal amount, no-one asking if they can get by, no one whispering or having a chat whilst the film is on. Why go out to the movies?

Honestly, all of the above reasons are why I’m staying away from my local movie theater that just started serving meals and doing all the earlier mentioned stuff. I enjoyed the old moldy movie theater!!
…Okay maybe not the mold, but I liked the way it was!
Maybe I should go before judging it, but I maintain my position for now…

Also if watching a film at home you can alter the sound, go back to little bits you missed or want to see again for whatever reason, and pause the film to grab a cup of tea or go to the bathroom. Try those in your cinema and you’ll get thrown out and/or arrested. Plus if the film sucks you dont feel you have to sit there for 2 hours as it cost you £10 and you’ll be damned if you’re not seeing it thru to the end.

Yeah, this sort of thing’s one of the ideas I’ve got for my first album title/cover: A Beautiful Summer’s Day, taken on a cold winter night.

I personally hate it when people go all hysterical because they’re not going on a vacation as luxury as usual or not on a vacation at all for the first time. I’ve personally only been on a vacation once, for a week in a little appartment at the sea, and 4 days to London last year, but you don’t see me whining do you? Also, there are a lot worse problems in the world than not going on a vacation. Douchebags.
