I used to be the designated driver for a group of friends, including my then-g.f., back in the day and I hated it, though it gave me peace of mind that I was able to get them all home safe. (Not necessarily sound, though.) The times I had to clean puke off the backseat of my Century station wagon were numerous, however.

This one may only apply to me but it’s reeeaallly annoying. I’m really into David Icke (yeah, that guy who talks about how the queen’s a lizard.) Let’s say I have a debate with someone, they’ll always say something along the lines of “you believe the queen’s a lizard so you are insane so you are wrong” etc etc. Even if it’s got nothing to do with it. We might be debating whether mustard is good on hotdogs and they’d still come out with that.
"White Album - My joint-fave Beatles album along with Revolver. They show the two sides of Beatles. Revolver's very controlled - even though it's also very innovative. The White Album's playful and almost ramshackle. It's like a scrapbook kept by a genius. Fantastic stuff."

It’s only two I contribute to and one seems pretty dead. I’m not going through all of them and posting like some people.

I’m a bit torn on this. They’re in a sub-forum so shouldn’t really get in anyone’s way, but clearly they annoy some people. I’d rather not get ban-happy, so my instinct is to let people get on with them if that’s what they want. Does anyone have a constructive solution that would keep everyone happy?

Is there a way to make it so they don’t show up in the New/Recently Updated posts list? That way if you really care about the Heal/Hurts you can just go to the subforum itself to look at the new ones, instead of having the main forum clogged up by them.

@Joe When they were first being played, each person who was interested in starting games never had more than one on the go at the same time. The problem to me seems that there are a few people starting multiple games. So whereas before we might have two or three games running, because only two or three people were coming up with ideas for games, and were waiting until their current game had finished before starting a new one, now some people are creating multiple games that are running alongside each other.
My worry for the forum is that in the “Unread and recently updated posts” list it sometimes looks as if that is all that is done on the forum, and all the casual browser sees of recent activity on the forum is that list. I worry that might give browsers a false impression of the forum. I looked on Saturday and the whole list was “heal/hurt” games – so much so that the sub-forum they could be found in was only listed on the first!
I don’t know if there is some way to prevent them clogging up the “Unread and recently updated posts” list, or simply making the request of those creating games that they only have one in play at a time, which – as I think there are around half-a-dozen people who have created games recently, would cut down the amount of space they take up on that list a lot.

Not to all of them no as you like doing it and the forum is for you to enjoy it as much as everyone else. I don’t particularly enjoy them but i’m certainly not going to ask for them to be banned or folks to stop posting in them all.
The easiest solution would be to have just a few on the go at once instead of the 19 that are doing the rounds but how do you say to someone you can’t post in that thread because these 5 are currently ongoing?

@Starr Shine? I second mmm. I used to play in “heal/hurt”, and you have seen my main suggestion. When the games were being played before, a set of rules were decided on for this forum – buried in “UK albums” – that I was meant to fillet out but the games suddenly stopped being played and I never got to it.
We were playing just as much back then, but there were only two or three games on the go at once, as each person creating games only created one at a time.
Truth is, only reason I don’t join in is that you’re all playing to different rules than I got used to. (Good to see you have all carried across the “Defeated” innovation I made back then though.)

There’s no way to remove the sub-forum from the recently-updated list. It’s all or nothing. Neither can they be ignored as far as I know (though this wouldn’t help guest viewers anyway).
I think we need a set of rules – maybe one game at a time. Is that too restrictive? Do these games eventually come to a natural end? I confess I normally ignore them all.
Rules for how to play would be useful anyway. Would someone like to write them? Then they can be pinned to the top of the list.

The way I get around it is to only check the Unread and recently updated topics pulldown menu at the top; since the Games are located at the bottom, I can ignore them more easily. It’s too confusing to try to navigate the topic list at the bottom of the page now, because then I inadvertently click a topic on Paul’s albums, thinking it’s a discussion, only to find another game.

@Joe If you want, I can pull out the original rules we settled on for the site when the game was introduced to the forum. They are not exactly the rules that are being played at the moment, but only one of them has an immediate effect on where they are now, the others affect them further down the line – partly to speed them up and stop them deadlocking as happened in the first game.
Games do finish. My game finished, under the rules that were set up and discussed as it went along.
As I said, I don’t think it’s fair to only have one game, but anyone starting a game should not be allowed to start another until it’s been played. Just my view though.
If you want me to pull out the rules, just let me know and I’ll do them by Wednesday.

Will do. I will start running through the thread they’re buried in and try to get them in shape for tomorrow, but Wednesday latest.
Where possible I will give you explanations as to why certain choices were agreed on.
