A Beatles-related pet peeve; Yoko Ono haters. I was having a Beatley conversation with a classmate the other day (which was a first and also pretty cool) but then the person I was talking to tried to explain to me why I should hate Yoko and the evidence he gave was that she took a picture of John’s glasses for her album cover. Like, dude, that is not a valid reason for hatred, ok? Tone it down!

@lovelyritametermaid That wasn’t really aimed at you. It just reminded me of how many times similar things have happened to me and given me bad vibes (it doesn’t always, some people do it to start up a genuine conversation). Sorry if you thought like I was attacking you. It did come off that way.

I do get excited seeing people wear Dark Side of the Moon shirts and sometimes try to start up a conversation about the album. I don’t anymore because nobody I’ve tried that with has known what the album was, but I would send them links to my favorite songs off the album for them to listen to. I ended up getting my cousin into Pink Floyd that way. Maybe next time you could recommend some songs to them.

I could give you more reasons to not like her, but the most recent to me is that she’s one of the many parents who let their child have sleepovers with a grown man unrelated to them (Michael Jackson).

And I get excited seeing DSOTM shirts as well because I love Pink Floyd and that album, though I run into the same problem you mentioned when I approach people about it where they’re just wearing it for the insignia (which I have to admit yeah it’s an awesome design so I don’t really blame them). And yeah I’ll try recommending songs next time, though I usually just end up telling them to listen to whole albums because that’s how I like to listen to music most often (though my peers apparently don’t. a lot of them are more playlist oriented)

Y’all can walk up to me and ask me about my favorite DSOTM songs any time. I won’t be able to choose one, but not for lack of Floyd knowledge ahdn_george_06

Just say “I have a great PF playlist for you to try” and do all the songs from DSOTM in order.

I personally think it’s an abomination to listen to only one track off DSOTM because I see the album as one cohesive piece, but most people I know don’t listen to albums.

that’s really not what I suggested tho…

When I get into an artist, I usually start with a couple songs and then jump into albums. But I make exceptions- Walry wanted me to try Mick Ronson and I listened to Indian Summer.

When you’re just minding your own business and vacuuming while blasting Pink Floyd into your brain and then all of a sudden you slam your pinkie toe on some random piece of furniture ahdn_paul_01ahdn_paul_01

That reminds me of a recent grocery run where I set the car key on the lip of the tailgate, you know, right where someone could close the tailgate onto the key? I thought, nah, it’ll be fine, I’ll close the car myself and I won’t forget. We loaded the groceries and then my mother (who usually lets me close the trunk cuz she’s short and I’m not) suddenly got overzealous and slammed that trunk shut. Right onto the key. It’s the kind with buttons so as soon as the door hit it we were locked out. We could see it but we couldn’t pull it out paul-mccartneypaul-mccartneypaul-mccartney

So we had to sit sheepishly in the Costco parking lot for half an hour until my dad got there with the spare key. paul-mccartney-facepalm_gif
