I’ve probably complained about this on here before, but a huge pet peeve of mine is parents dictating what clothes their child wears/toys their child can play with based on what they think a boy or girl should be doing. There’s one Friends episode I literally can’t watch where Ross gets irrationally upset when his son plays with a Barbie Doll.
A similar thing has had a couple of times at the cinema where I work, when a kid chose a pink straw for their drink and their dad literally made them go put it back and choose another one. The first time I just quaked in anger but the second time I made a point of saying “no, you keep the pink one if you want it”, which the dad didn’t look happy about, but he didn’t complain. I’m not sure whether it was the same dad each time though.

I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

Agreed, that’s irrational and stupid. If the kid wants to play with a Barbie let them play with a feckin’ Barbie. If they like the color pink, what’s wrong with that?
Also, I’ve only seen season 1 of Friends but I thought Ross was better than that, I’m disappointed.

They completely butcher his character later on, just by making all of the humour around him basically him making horrendous decisions and then being hated by everyone else. There’s a *horrible* episode where the entire joke is Ross trying to make a move on… his cousin. It’s grim.
So that’s another pet peeve: Ross from Friends

There are some great bits later on, but like many sitcoms, it’s wildly inconsistent. I’m a big fan of That 70s Show too, but it also has the same issues.

Back on topic, a general pet peeve of mine is gravity. Always making my damn posters fall down

When singers rhyme a word with itself. It drives me crazy for some reason.
Example:
We bought a lot of things
To keep you warm and dry
And a funny old crib on which the paint won’t dry
Why, David, why?
(still a good song though )

^YES that always bugs me sO much. I vow to never, ever write a song in which I rhyme a word with itself… if I can at all help it…

HUh. I seem to remember that line being “warm and high” and thinking it was an amusing not-so-subtle reference to weed, like in It’s Only Love or something

Ew, no, it’s a song about kids fer gudnesssake…. anyway, I’m pretty sure that by that point he was past his brief weed phase. He said he didn’t really like it, it dulled his creativity — he preferred fast drugs like cocaine that give you energy so you can indulge your workaholism

True. I just listened to it again and have no idea why I thought that – doesn’t sound remotely like it. Still one of my favourite songs of his.
