It has been known been to occur, ASJ that I have wandered in there hoping for something magical to roll up and take me away. The man behind the counter says, “You look more like him than I do!” which distracts me and ten to twenty minutes later, depending on the kebab and because we are both together, I have emerged with a kebab of one sort or another. Much to my shame.
The airfield is now a business park where I have to go for my medicals when the Government want to decide if I’m still ill.
So what you’re saying RN, is when you look in the mirror you see this?

I expressed the pet peeves that the shop is now a kebab shop, and the airfield is now a business park.
Then you all started… at least we are all together…

I agree, I hate that. One time someone logged onto this Google Slides presentation I was doing and deleted half my slides just to piss me off 🙁
Pet peeve (see look I’m staying on topic 😉 ): When people misspell/mispronounce my name.

Yes, so relate. My last name is taken from a tiny village in Latvia, and of course most Australians haven’t heard of Latvia let alone how to pronounce something in Latvian..

The problem with me is my first name, which unfortunately is the one used by teachers when taking roll. On the first day of my freshman year, six out of my seven teachers got my name wrong, and my PE teacher this year still calls me by the wrong name even though it’s been half the year and I’ve corrected him at least five times. He even alternates between two different wrong pronunciations 🙁

My name is pronounced EXACTLY how it’s spelt, and still every new adult i meet calls me some wrong variation of it. Although it’s a super uncommon name (a scottish surname, whoopee) i still expect people to know how to read.

Yes me too! But people try to get creative with their pronunciation and still they get it wrong. Once two of my friends (who also have unusual names) and I all wrote down every mispronunciation/misspelling we’d ever experienced and we all agreed that mine was the worst. 🙁

Oh boy, let me tell you, just because something’s pronounced the way it’s spellt doesn’t mean any mortal will be able to pronounce it — or spell it, for that matter. I can attest to that.

Maybe once everyone graduates college and completes their education, they should all do first grade over again to learn the basics they’ve forgotten– like sounding out words. Then this kind of thing wouldn’t happen.
*sigh* but I’m used to it.

Autocorrect. I once sent a text saying “thanks” that autocorrected to “the ants.”
I have a lot of things to say about autocorrect. It’s done many good things for me, hilarious things, but then sometimes it changes “gimme a sec” to something, ah, less innocent.
