I am not against culling, and the “scientific” route has always allowed for that. Japan may not kill a single more whale in the next year than it has been by calling it scientific for decades, but it is the action of walking away from the flawed international moratorium that sends shivers.
It is the same as Trump turning his back on the Paris climate change agreements (and their weak updates) because he’s decided man has nothing to do with climate change.
Or when manning the NASA Santa-tracker phoneline Trump decides to question a seven-year-old’s belief in Santa, when we all know he’s real.
Or when Trump…
Okay, I know… enough already!

@Dark Overlord @50yearslate is female, referenced her height in relation to her gender several times, and you still said ‘all of us talking about our height are men’???
I believe Trump had other reasons for backing out of the Paris Climate Accord than you state, @Ron Nasty, but as I know you have not the slightest appreciation* for our president — nor do I have the slightest inclination to get into politics here I will simply say I didn’t mean to thank that post.
Semi-related but not really, I hate it when people change their tune just to oppose President Trump. There are those who, if Trump stated that the sky was blue, would probably decide that the sky was actually green to spare themselves the moral compromise of (heaven forbid!) actually agreeing with Donald Trump. And 2+2=5.
*you don’t have to like him — I don’t particularly — but I appreciate some of the things he’s done. Appreciation is distinct from liking, it’s more logical than emotional.

No, sorry, @Beatlebug. He denies the evidence, and dismisses Paris and his own Government’s opinion because short-term, ie. the full possible term of his Presidency, it will not damage the economy. Of course, long term his refusal to deal with it will destroy the world his children and grandchildren inherit.

I hate it when I’m taking a Beatles quiz and a. some questions are complete opinions, such as “Did Yoko Ono break up the Beatles” and “Who was the Fifth Beatle” and are still graded as right or wrong and b. when there are factual errors in the questions. Sorry, but the Beatles didn’t break up in 1968.

mm hmm. And then when you get your result it says, “You might (might?!?!?!?) be a Beatlemaniac, just like me!” and I’m like “No, sorry, I don’t think so, try again later.” I mean there’s nothing shameful in being wrong as long as you learn from it and you don’t present your false opinions as the indisputable truth, but so many people do and then refuse to change their mind.” “What do you mean, John Lennon was in the Beatles? I don’t believe you!”

Darn it only twice! I swear I clicked the button like ten times but that’s my phone for you
I used to have a similar problem– my earbuds would spontaneously combust and only play the instruments, but not the vocals. Powering my phone on and off helped though… so did switching my earbuds with my brother’s. (Shhhh!)

I couldn’t agree more, Trump is a terrible president who got elected by saying that he’d waste literal boatloads of money on a wall to keep out innocent Mexicans who just want a better life.
But he’s also done some great things like the Mexico City ban or reforming our prison system.
I think the whole John McCain incident is a perfect example. Many liberals criticized Trump for dodging the draft while praising John McCain for fighting during Vietnam although it was the liberals who were against the war and the draft and if it were anyone else, the liberal media wouldn’t’ve had a problem with it. For example, most people on the left don’t have a problem with Muhammad Ali refusing to serve during the Vietnam war. But since it’s Trump we’re talking about, the liberal media made a big deal about it.

No, he is slammed not for dodging the draft but for using his wealth, position and connections to avoid the draft while others who could have done the same, say John McCain or Muhammad Ali, instead served and were later called cowards by him for becoming POWs or else were stripped of honours they had won, shunned and imprisoned.
My applause is for those who stand by their beliefs, whether that involves serving or being a conscientious objector with its consequences, rather than for those who hid behind privilege to answer the challenge set when your country asked.

Good point @Ron Nasty but still, Donald Trump used his wealth to avoid something he should’ve been able to avoid all along. Sure, i have much more respect for Ali since he had the balls to go to the place and refuse to stand up, knowing that he would be arrested, while most draft dodgers simply went to Canada but Trump and the other people who got an exemption, legitimate or not, really didn’t do anything wrong since forcing people to join the military is wrong to begin with so he was just righting a wrong.

All this talk about draft dodgers points to a pet peeve of mine: US imperialism. Regardless of one’s opinions on socialism/communism, the US haven’t made a very good case for the argument that “communism only works in theory and will inevitably fail anywhere it’s tried” when they’ve put trillions of dollars into destroying it whenever it appears.
I've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.
