A pet peeve of when you have a shift with a coworker and they go take their break which is supposed to be 15 minutes and it has been a bit over 50 minutes since they have left for their break.

(Some context: my position involves an upper and lower desk. Only one person is allowed on break, and the upper desk has to always be occupied)

(Also: My residence cafeteria closes at 8 and it is currently 7:18, I just want to eat food please)paul-mccartney

Hope everyone else has a good day 🙂

I hate it when someone who isn’t a vegetarian cooks me dinner and they forget that we, like normal people, also need fruits, vegetables, and grains. a-hard-days-night-ringo-12

I once was given Quorn sausages for my dinner (along with the normal potatoes and veg). Hopefully much better vegetarian food exists out there in supermarkets as it felt like I was eating cardboard.

I cannot eat peppers or chillies, mushrooms make me want to skip eating and tomatoes are barely bearable. If I was a vegetarian I would therefore starve to death as most vegetarian meals consist of at least one of those ingredients.

Live albums that have the song introduction at the end of the previous song bug the life out of me. I get that if you put on a song you may not want to listen to 30 seconds of someone talking but it’s just stupid the way it commonly is – ‘see ‘Anthology 2 ‘.

Or the great combination of some pasta and tomato sauce….I haven’t eaten in 5 hours and you’ve not given me anything filling?!!? I eat practically every vegetable and if pushed will eat fake-meat. Why do this to me?

The way calendars represent full moon and new moon. It seems backwards to me. I know they’re saying that the dark circle is supposed to be a new moon because you can’t see it. But, I guess I took too many standardized tests. I want the colored in circle to mean that it’s a full moon… the circle is fully colored in.

When ‘Alberta’ is abbreviated as ‘ALTA’ as opposed to ‘AB’. Whenever I see it as the former I always think they’re trying to spell, and therefore are talking about, Atlanta. It’s a bit of a s***e abbreviation, too, seeing as you only omit two letters.paul-mccartney-facepalm_gif

(1) The DWP (Department of Work & Pensions).

The last few weeks have been a struggle while waiting for my Personal Independence Payment (PIP) to be re-confirmed, especially as it hits part of my Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) payment. At the medical which took place at the beginning of May, the assessor showed some surprise that it was needed at all as I had undergone the same assessment at the end of the last year, and the report then had said I wouldn’t need seeing again for at least two years. But you do what you’re told when you’re needing benefits, and she revealed that she wouldn’t be disagreeing in any way with the previous report.

On 22 May I got a text from the DWP that they had received the written report and I should hear within four weeks, which was reached on Tuesday, and still no word. Phone calls to be made next week to find out what’s happening and chase them.

(2) My local Post Office.

I can only get money from a Post Office or a Post Office cashpoint. My local PO, just a five-minute walk down the road. It’s been closed since a week ago Wednesday, and their cashpoint has now run out of money. The shop aren’t saying why it’s shut, when it will reopen, or when the cashpoint will be working again.

The nearest PO after that is about a mile away, but not on a bus route from where I am, and with a great big fecking hill to walk up. Then the next nearest is in Orpington, but luckily it’s on a bus route. Still means a fecking trip to get any money at the minute.

(3) Automatic downloads when you’re on a metered connection (Pay-As-You-Go).

While waiting for my benefits to be sorted I’m having to manage my internet use, which I’ve been doing rather well. Wednesday I had just over 1GB to get me through to today. Easy. Closed Sims 4 because it was running slow and I was getting some very weird looking animations on my modded expansion and content. A 1.25GB game update started to download in Origin, and I straightaway cancelled it. It’s probably to prepare for the Seasons expansion, but since I can’t afford it until the benefits are sorted, not bothered about the update. Spent some time doing other things, and when I looked at the laptop again. Origin had ignored my cancelling it and killed my data which would have seen me through to today. It had stopped at 800MBs, all wasted because I had to cancel it again to get the game to play.

(4) 3, my mobile network for my laptop.

It gets antsy when you’re running low on data and stops connecting. It had stopped the Origin download leaving me with about 300MBs, plenty for light usage, but it’s refused to connect 95% of the time, and kicks me off quickly when it does connect, leaving me with my phone which I struggle to use the internet on because of crappy pop-up keyboard and fat fingers.

Topping-up today, it started using the 192MBs of the previous top-up I had left. The fecking network should allow me to use the data I have paid for until I have no data, not stop me using, or make it difficult to use, data when it gets to around 300MBs. I’ve paid for that 300MBs, you feckers!

PIP is an utter disaster handled abysmally for so many but a few handful were sorted within the initial allocated timeframe and budget so it’s an almost complete success, according to the Government. Any of the annoying blighters left in a financial mess, screaming at the three people sorting it out as they have no food to eat tonight,  should jolly well be glad they get any help at all.

a-hard-days-night-ringo-8 Totally agree, and I’m yet to face the horror of having to switch to Universal Credit, which makes PIP look like a picnic.

Today’s pet peeve is…

GDPR.jpgImage Enlarger

No fecking understanding on my part. What data are these sites ripping from those who can access them that breaks European data rules? I see that warning, or one of its variations, usually from American sites, and I do wonder what these sites are up to… and I’d be asking much more loudly if I had access but knew they wanted things from me that European laws prohibit on the grounds of privacy.

I was watching the BBC documentary on Eric Clapton yesterday. They were taking about The Yardbirds playing at The Beatles’ Christmas show. The  doc was done in that you didn’t really see the interviewees/archived clips but just heard the sound and then photos of Eric or whatever.

Anyhoo, my pet peeve came about because

One of The Beatles was talking and it said at the bottom left corner Paul McCartney -member of The Beatles…

except

IT WAS GEORGE TALKING!!!

Forgotten once again our poor Quiet Beatle a-hard-days-night-paul-11

Not the only mistake in the film, @AppleScruffJunior. Ahmet Ertegun’s name was misspelled every time it was captioned, and Pink Floyd bassist Roger Waters was described as their guitarist.

Not really a BBC doc though, it was made for cinema, and the major funder was Showtime, so they can’t really be blamed.

^Haven’t got that far yet, watched about 20 minutes and will watch the rest tomorrow…maybe. I don’t know how no one on the production team spotted the George error, especially as he’d be mentioned/heard a hundred times or so with Clapton in the early ’70’s and early 90’s if they do the Japan tour.

When you open up a site and you hit page down to get down deeper to other stuff below the screen, then the site moves you back up again, then you hit page down again, and it bounces up again.  Sometimes you think okay, now the site has settled down and I can click on this link here… but no, it’s not finished bouncing, and it causes your mouse cursor to hit the wrong link, then you have back out of the page it took you to; etc.  I wish I could say the BB site doesn’t do that too…
