"Stop throwing jelly beans at me"- George Harrison

This may piss off some of you but here you go:
There are many reasons why this album pisses me off:
1. Most people consider it a Beatles album when in reality, it’s a split album, with side A being a Beatles album and side B being a George Martin album.
2. Side B really sucks, I understand some people like classical music, but this should be a Beatles album.
3. They reuse Yellow Submarine . Other bands have done this, such as Queen reusing Queen’s Seven Seas Of Rhye on Queen II, Green Day reusing Kerplunk’s Welcome To Paradise on Dookie, and Sublime reusing Robbin The Hood’s Lincoln Highway Dub on Sublime with the name Santeria, but at least these bands had the decency to remake and improve on the song whereas The Beatles didn’t, they didn’t even use an alternate take or add the scrapped opening dialogue, they just said to hell with it and just copy and pasted the version from Revolver .
4. This album really should’ve been released as an EP, I wouldn’t be bitching about it if they released it as an EP like they were planning.

It’s certainly their weakest album, and an example of them following how the US had fecked up their soundtracks to A Hard Day’s Night and Help ! by including parts of George Martin’s instrumental score.

I do like the instrumental tracks from A Hard Day’s Night , and to a lesser extent Yellow Submarine , but I think they should have been completely separate from the actual Beatle songs. I honestly don’t even consider Yellow Submarine a proper Beatles album.

Here’s one I think everyone here can agree with, Journey’s Don’t Stop Belevin’ really sucks and pisses me off. It’s so overplayed that it doesn’t just make the song sound bad, it makes me think less of Journey, who already aren’t the best band to start with, I can’t think of a more overplayed song.

I actually quite like those two releases. It was Ken Thorne who did Help !, and the US edition of that album is quite interesting – not least for the James Bond-style intro to the title track. Also, having the incidental music makes it feel like a souvenir of the film, so they were complete packages for the fans. Obviously far fewer people care nowadays, but back in the 60s I’d imagine it was nice to have all the incidental music.
I agree about Yellow Submarine though. It was a lame effort by EMI, and they could have done so much more with it – eg a booklet with stills and lyrics like MMT. YSS Songtrack is a better album because the remixes sound fantastic.
In an alternative universe maybe there’s a double album with all the MMT songs on one side and the YS songs on another, titled The Beatles on Screen. Or perhaps MMT with Shirley’s Wild Accordion and the extended version of Flying on one side.

;n; Oh no, that’s terrible.
Anywho, a pet peeve of mine is when you find a piece of clothing or a whole outfit that you like, but you can’t afford it/find it in your size/really wear it and have it fit well.

Today’s pet peeve / rant:
Incompetent doctors office staff!
I’ve got an RX on hold pending prior authorization. It’s a supplement not a med, not life threatening or anything, but still. I called a few days ago checking on it saying it needs to have authorization and she’s like “I don’t know how to do that!” I mean, WHAT? YOU WHAT?
So I just got off the phone with my insurance carrier and they never got any auth. requests / clinical notes for this RX. It had been authorized prior, but I changed insurance carriers since Jan 1 so it would require authorization through this new carrier now to refill it. Anyway, I told the agent what the staff told me at the doctor’s office and she was really concerned about that. She even emailed me a .pdf of the form in case they need it. I call the dumb doctor’s office when I hang up with insurance, and give them my name, number, doctor I’m a patient of, and that I need the authorization request form and clinical notes on the RX sent to the fax number I provided them and then repeated. Mentioned that I have a .pdf of the form too in case they need it and to call me if they have any questions or need me.
I like this doctor a lot. But his STAFF, man. HIS STAFF!

OK, I’ve got a pet peeve about children’s toys. This might not mean much to those without kids.
There seems to be a fashion nowadays for things like Lego minifigures or Funko mini dolls in mystery bags or blind boxes. They’re sealed and opaque and you only find out what you’ve got once you’ve bought and opened it.
Inevitably there are rare figures in the range, but the most common ones are often a bit rubbish. This seems geared towards getting parents (or the kids) to buy more in the hope of getting a cool toy, but you risk getting duplicates or disappointing items. Or you pay more on Amazon or eBay from people who have opened and resealed theirs.
When I was a kid, if you wanted a toy, you’d go to the toy shop and damn well choose the one you wanted. No alarms and no surprises. Grrr.
(Actually, I just remembered football stickers and trading cards which were similar, but I’m going to pretend those didn’t exist back then.)

That certainly means a lot to me, and I don’t have kids. Funny about that…
Joking aside, that’s why I rarely bought/buy toys, as you don’t know what you’re getting.

It’s a laptop! It’s not a phone! It’s a 2TB laptop, with a half dozen external hard drives ranging from 250GB to 2TB.
I’m just copying the files on the 2TB external. Long way to go yet.
