People who refuse to eat meat on Fridays during lent, so therefore eat fish instead. That’s so contradicting, it’s like me saying “I can’t play video games during December, so therefore I’ll go to the arcade and play Ms. Pac Man instead” or “I can’t watch TV this week, so I’ll just watch the news on TV instead”, it makes no sense.
I knew someone who claimed they were vegetarian yet admitted they had eaten kangeroo, buffalo and all other kinds of meat as there was nothing else on the menu!! My challenging of such garbage did not go down well.

Well, I am not religious in any way, nor am I vegan… But eating fish in place of meat during lent actually has a long history and a basis in religious philosophy and is not just a matter of convenience / hypocrisy. Lent is supposed to be a time of active sacrifice and abstinence – giving up something that gives you pleasure. The ancient tradition was actually to fast during this period but a single meal was allowed each day to provide sustenance – to provide for survival but not to satisfy hunger. As the tradition evolved, eating fish in place of other meats was considered to be a lenten sacrifice – Thomas Aquinas wrote in the Summa Theologica (1485): “they [other meats] afford greater pleasure as food [than fish], and greater nourishment to the human body, so that from their consumption there results a greater surplus available for seminal matter, which when abundant becomes a great incentive to lust.”
Perhaps that is a rationalization but it’s one with a venerable history and tradition…and a lot of religion is about history and tradition. Not exactly in the same category as a “vegan” ordering a burger because of “limited menu options…”

A vegan could just not eat or order the burger without the patty. That is the price of a restrictive diet.

When you go to a fast food restaurant and are reading the menu board. You’re standing fifty feet away from the menu and cashier yells across the room “Are you ready to order?.”
Clearly, I’m not.

Spoiler alert: Yuck
When, in the course of ridding one’s body of something disagreeable in a manner which involves seeming intense conversations with the toilet bowl, contents of the afflicted stomach contaminate one’s hair. It is excessively annoying to be engaged in such a strenuous activity and have to worry about keeping one’s hair back on top of it all.
It’s not as if I speak from personal experience or anything…

Here’s something that pisses me off and has for quite a while now, the misuse of the word N—r. I’ve noticed this mostly with people who are hip and also rappers but I don’t get it, why the hell do people use a word that is a derogatory term for an African American in their everyday vocabulary like as if it’s a pronoun and the strangest part is that black people are known for using this word, the very same word that if said to them 60 years ago, they would’ve beat the s**t out of them. In rap, I can’t think of a more frequently used word, except maybe Yo (to be fair, I hate rap music, so correct me if I’m wrong) and why is the phrase “my n*****” a common and friendly way to say hello, I mean a girl doesn’t say “my slut” and a homosexual doesn’t say “my faggot”, so why this.

The shifting language of race/racism.
The language is very important, but the shifting terms for different groups can be difficult to keep pace with as they shift in and out of fashion.
As a white man approaching 50 I get scared of describing racial groups, and which are the right words…
And, yes, before any objections, I do know that “white” is factually inaccurate, but it is a term that’s understood…
Legally, European Caucasian…

My family can’t even agree on what racial term to use for ourselves, let alone other people. Skin tone varies wildly between my relatives and we’re often treated very differently even from members of the family that are from the same generation of the same family unit.

Political Correctness also plagues on this, pardon my terminology but the ‘snowflake generation’ is horrendous. I was debating in my university with a girl who said that any mention of gender should be removed from ID. I said of course gender should be removed but sex should be not. You can identify as a male but biologically you are a female, you can’t get rid of your uterus, ovaries, you don’t have a prostate etc. If you were to collapse suddenly and was completely unresponsive and you had to be brought down to a hospital and had to have urgent surgery quickly or you’d die, then you don’t want to make your doctors confused as to why you don’t have a womb, prostate whatever*. Or if you’re sexually female, you don’t need to be tested for prostate cancer and if you’re sexually male you don’t have to be tested for cervical and ovarian cancer.
I schooled the fool and she had no response to my thoughts, I was surprised she didn’t berate my opinion because it came from a white, straight, cis-gender girl .
*I know there are very cases where people are born intersex or have both genitialia etc. but for the VAST MAJORITY of people they are born with male sex organs or female sex organs.

Actually, you can. There are surgeries to remove the organs. Also if people make the transiston, their bodies and hormones are significantly different than their birth sex.

^ I know you can get your ovaries and uterus removed particularly if you had cancer of those areas, and taking testosterone can have negative effects for your ovaries and uterus. It still is very common for female-to-male transgender individuals to keep their own reproductive organs. Furthermore male-to-female rarely get their prostate removed as it is a very complicated procedure that can go wrong very easily.
I’ll write more when I get home but I have to go visit my granddad, I’ll remind myself to update more @AppleScruffJunior
