I had a conversation with someone who said that he was a major Beatles fan and when asked his favorite song he said ‘Imagine ‘. After I politely said that was Lennon solo he struggled to name many after 3 or four from ‘1’. a-hard-days-night-paul-3

Was one of the songs he mentioned Yesterday by any chance.

Pet Peeve of the Day:  Hearing my sister listen to trashy band covers of Queen, Billy Joel, and REO Speedwagon songs.  Like these covers are really bad.  She pays no respect to the originals.

I’m not talking about the songs themselves, more like someone saying they’re this huge fan and can only name one or two hit songs and nothing more.

I’ve been a fan of Bob Dylan since freshman year of high school, but I could only name his hits for a few years. I didn’t listen to his songs, I listened to his albums, so I didn’t know most the names of his songs. Doesn’t mean I wasn’t a fan.

One of my pet peeves is when I give somebody a piggy back ride and they tell me not to fall. Honestly, I’m going to do what I want, so if you don’t want me to fall on you then you probably shouldn’t have gotten on my back.

You’ve mentioned this twice.  Do you give a lot of piggyback rides?

I don’t think it was. ‘Penny Lane ‘ and ‘Yellow Submarine ‘ definitely were.

She was talking about people who can only name the hits, which, was how I was. Only being able to name the hits doesn’t mean they don’t know their music and that also doesn’t mean they’re not fans. Also, you can be a fan of an artist and only know their hits. Sure, you’re not a hardcore fan, but you can still be a fan.

Not really, but it seems like every time I give one to somebody who isn’t a baby they tell me this and it really bothers me. ):

No, in your case I wouldn’t say you weren’t a fan. You knew the songs even if you didn’t know the titles. You listened to, appreciated, and knew the albums even if you couldn’t place song titles. Your case is different than what I was talking about. I have known a couple of people who ONLY knew one or two hits but acted like they were this huge fan, etc. Yes, technically they CAN be a fan I guess.

I don’t know why you have to know the names of songs or know more than the hits to be a fan of something because that would make little kids and people like my friend who never bought an album in their life and only knows songs from the radio not fans.

Maybe you should try posting more.

If you really liked a song why wouldn’t you spend the time to hunt down the artist and at the very least find the song online to play freely? Surely they don’t spend their days waiting for it to possibly be played again.

I hunt down the song, I just don’t feel like going deeper into their catalog. Often times, people will make one song I like and a bunch of non tasty ones.

To meanmistermustard, my friend doesn’t know how to use a computer and he’s fine with just listening to whatever’s on the radio and watching whatever’s on TV, so he wouldn’t go out of his way to look up a song name.

Maybe you should try posting more.

Yeah, i’ve had that frequently. Lisa Loeb’s ‘Stay (I Missed You)’ is one of my favourite songs but nothing else I like.

Wont you both discuss songs and then find out if there is anything else?

Beatles tribute bands that have John play lead guitar on Something .

I hope that George got fired because he sucks at playing guitar and is so stupid, he didn’t realize that George plays lead guitar on Something .

Myself and @Ahhh Girl saw a tribute band at the Cavern on John’s birthday that had a right-handed Paul and a left-handed George! Work that one out!

I say that HMBeatlesfan’s tribute band, they either fire George or have him switch places with John. Whereas for Ron Nasty’s band, I say that George and Paul swap and they have Paul play guitar for some songs such as Drive My Car and Helter Skelter where Paul’s the one playing guitar on the recording.

Imagine Lennon……..

When one types in the word Imagine , it is linked to the song. This was not the intention. Perhaps Envision or Picture would have been a better choice.
