Pet peeve (annoyance) of the day:

The way Amazon packages delicate makeup items.

I had a pretty nice Amazon credit sitting in my account from the class action e-book suit. Anyway thought I’d have some fun with it and order some makeup I wanted to try since it was a pretty nice amount of almost $100. Ordered an eyeshadow palette a liquid lipstick, and a BECCA x Jaclyn Hill highlighter.  That highlighter wasn’t cheap, it was $50. Yeah, I could have gotten it at Sephora for less, $38, but since the credit was in there and I wanted it…

Anyway. It arrived completely shattered. Rattling around in the shipping box with no protection other than the product’s slip box. The palette was wrapped in some bubble wrap so it was fine. I put in for a refund and will repurchase when the credit comes back in my account. I left feedback and as well included a note with my return saying that they NEED to take better care in packaging delicate makeup items like this much better than this and that I don’t want my next one carelessly packaged. Not the first time I’ve had makeup arrive with no protection, but thankfully those times they just got lucky and the product wasn’t damaged.

I was reading a good story that was marred by the fact that they kept using orbs instead of eyes all the time. Orbs sticks out like a sore thumb and distracts from the story causing the reader to focus on the word choice instead.

A shameless plug for Joe. Did you use his Amazon link when you ordered the items, @The Hippie Chick? Every little bit helps him out to keep this site up and running.

When you find out no one else at your place of work has been enforcing a policy. When you try to enforce it, you end up having to get a public safety officer involved. The officer said he has had to deal with that student on other parts of campus too.

Makes my whole afternoon crappy.

I call the boss and let her know about the incident.

I need tea and sympathy. Please. Someone.

I asked for tea, not pea(s). I’ll take some scones with the tea.

The policy is clearly plastered in multiple places in the building. A textbook cannot be checked out by the same student more than once in a 24 hour period. The policy is in place to keep a student from monopolizing the book. Other students should have a turn with it. Unfortunately, we can’t make the checkin/checkout automated system enforce the rule. It has to be enforced by the humans that are supposed to be watching as people check the books out. Unfortunately, the regular front line staff isn’t enforcing that rule. Sometimes I wonder why I care and why I try to be a model employee.

I’m slowly getting past the harrowing experience. I’m a nice person. I don’t like unpleasantries. Thank RN, SG, and Necko for helping me get by.

The new boss said we will be meeting to discuss how to resolve this problem. I have some ideas I’ll throw into the mix.

Has it been 24 hours since the book was returned? If so give her the book. If not tell her to bolt.

If she is impolite, rude and discourteous give her a life ban and see how she does failing her studies.

Was listening to an episode of the BBC’s ‘Pick of the Pops’ where after ‘All Those Years Ago’ was played the presenter claimed it was the closest that George, Paul and Ringo ever got to a Beatles reunion.
