Recommended videos on YouTube, they have nothing to do with what I am watching and I can’t get rid of them, I cleared my watch and search history as well as my cookies yet they are still there taking up space from related videos.

This is more of an annoyance than a pet peeve, but I’ll just share it here anyways.
I hate when you’re doing really good in a class. By that, I mean you work hard on homework, projects, ect. and suddenly comes a quiz. You get a poor score, and suddenly, you’re failing the class because you got a D on one assessment. And the second you get a really good grade on a big assignment, your grade goes up the slightest bit. That happened to me today in one of my classes and I wasn’t too pleased, obviously. Thank god my teacher offers quiz corrections!

This counts as a Beatley Moment and a Pet Peeve but I’m more ‘half-empty’ than ‘half-full’ so I’m going to post it here.
I had Pawn Stars playing in the background while I was designing a poster and some lad came in with original Beatle bobble-heads from 1964. Yer man Corey was examining all of them saying how the base on Paul’s bobble-head was chipped, Ringo was missing a drum-stick and John’s head had been sello-taped back on. When he got to look at George he said “not much is wrong with George, which is good but then again he is the least-favourite Beatle so *shrugs*”.
Least-favourite, I’ll show you least-favourite you little —–
He also was adamant that The Beatles were a boyband.
You could technically call them a boyband from say ’63-Help ! but after everything else they definitely weren’t a boyband! I haven’t heard One Direction make a Revolver or a Sgt. Pepper ‘s yet and they have been together for what 6 years now? If they were going from The Beatles first album release then they should be making their Abbey Road and Let It Be this year…. ha! (Although they have more-or-less broken up now so I guess it only takes 6 years of success to break-up a popular group…)
Anyways, ASJ was not a happy camper when she heard that remark

It’s a reality-show on the History* Channel, focusing on a pawn store in Las Vegas and the stuff that people bring in to sell or pawn, it’s all fake but interesting fakeness none the less.
*On a side note: When was the last time the History Channel actually showed a full day of history documentaries, that didn’t contain any Nazi-related ones? Whenever I glance at it I always see reality shows and Nazi documentaries

It was an annoying comment though, there are Beatles fans who don’t like John, those that don’t like Paul, a few who dislike Ringo but who doesn’t like George? Surely he was the most amiable of them all bar the fact he could be a grouch sometimes, he seemed the most ‘level-headed’.
Ah well your man doesn’t know anything about The Beatles so I can’t be raging that much about it….still

I remember a line from a comedian (don’t remember the name of the comedian tho) that went something like this:
“My grandfather is always watching The History Channel. Or as he calls it, the news.”

Insurance companies. Specifically car insurance. I have been working in a solicitor’s office for the year and the amount of insurance-fraud cases that come in boils my blood it honestly does. A******s faking a crash, claiming for it, getting compensation and then rising everyone else’s premiums.
I hope to have my full licence by May and I can not get a quote ANYWHERE for my car just because it’s 16 years old. It’s a bloody capable car, it drove from Italy to Ireland for Christ’s sake and because of my age and the car’s age, insurance companies think the second I go out on the road- I’ll smash into a brand new Audi and the company will have to fork out a couple of thousand for the car’s repair and the inevitable injury claim that the other driver would put in because Ireland now has a massive compo culture* .
I’m a safe driver, I’ve had people, while I was overtaking, try to undercut me and if I hadn’t looked in my mirror I would have smashed right into them but I saw them BECAUSE I USE MY MIRRORS!!! (Wait for tomorrow when I’ll be complaining about hitting a truck, these are the ironies that ASJ’s life is built on). Also people on roundabouts, pulling out in front of me and whatnot….grr!
Gah, I hate paying in the 1000s for insurance, it’s so bloody annoying!! If we had good public transport than I wouldn’t need a car but I don’t live in Dublin which gets all of the money budgeted for public transport (The amount of times I have ranted on here about Dublin getting all of the investment is worthy of a thread of its own I think). So I have to have a car for getting around (there are no bicycle routes either and the roads are too narrow to cycle safely ).
My only hope is to go to a broker and see if they can get me insured or get the ‘rents insured on the car and have me as a named driver, blah!
*A further expansion on the ‘compo culture’, if you suffer a soft-tissue whiplash in Ireland you can get up to €15,000, in the UK you get a fourth of that and in Germany you would get nothing at all. Car insurance policies went up 20% last year

The hardest thing about learning to drive is avoiding all the idiots out there who are on the road. Last time I was out there was a complete moron who didn’t bother using any of their lights; not for seeing nor indicating. I’m fed up getting told how important it is to let other drivers know where you are going only to find myself behind some git who doesn’t bother their backside.
And roundabouts are a feckin’ lottery where I go. There is a rule but most others tend to ignore it so its little more than go as soon as you can and hope that its clear.

I always wonder how they got their licences (if indeed they have one), did they just collect tokens off their cereal boxes or what?
One of the roundabouts that I go on, the lanes are switched around so to go out the 1st/2nd exit you have to go on the rightside lane instead of the leftside- plays havoc with unfamiliar day-trippers I tells ya, everytime I go on it I expect it to be my last trip.
My least favourite people on the roundabout are the hesitators, who don’t know if they are actually going to go on the bloody thing or not. There was a Mini in the exit before me and yer wan kept on edging up, looking like she was going to drive off and then stopping. Everytime I would creep forward going on to the roundabout, she would drive forward slightly so I had no idea if I’d end up cutting her off and she’d crash into the back of me. Meanwhile my mam was saying “why aren’t you going ASJ? Go! Go!” and I just muttered curses at the Mini-driver.
I hope whenever I do my test, I don’t meet someone like that on the roundabouts because I know I’d get a Grade 2 mark for ‘Lack of Progress’

I know fine well i’m going to fail my driving test because I will debate the whole time with my instructor the point of the Highway Code. I also know that if I get failed for something so ridiculous like doing 31mph in a 30mph zone he/she will probably come out the car chomping on his/her clipboard.

In Ireland you are allowed to do up to 10% of the speed marked on the speed-limit sign so if it says 50km/ph you can do 55km/ph and you won’t get in trouble WITH THE POLICE (that’s important). In your driving test you’d probably get a Grade 2 for ‘Speeding’ if your instructor caught you but you wouldn’t fail immediately (you need to get 8 Grade 2’s to fail).
I hope I don’t fail mine because I do not want to have to pay €75 for another retest, the last lesson I had with my instructor I’d say about a month and a half ago, he said he thinks the car that I’m driving is too big* and that I should be in a smaller one but I can’t do anything about that because my insurance isn’t up until August and I am not going a second year of paying for insurance on a learner’s permit, t’is too expensive I say.
Anyways I’ve been doing a lot of practice since that and I think I’m grand and so does my family seeing as I’ve been carting them everywhere for the past 3 weeks or so.
I hope he says I’m doing better because I hate having to have somebody next to me everytime I want to go somewhere.
*This is my car, no matter how many people bitch about French cars, this has served me well and it has 200,000km on it- so nice job.

Ye put 14 year olds on the road in some states, I imagine road-deaths would be 2x the way they are if Ireland’s 14 year olds were allowed to drive. The majority of teens are idiots (including myself) but especially somebody who has just become a teen, started secondary school and wants to look “cool” and impress their peers. The 14 year olds in my school would have been doing bloody handbrake turns and donuts if they got their hands on the wheel.
16 year olds here can learn to drive a tractor and motorcycle and 17 year olds can drive a car- it’s a grand age, just before you start university and when you have a bit of cop-on as regards not being an idiot in a bit of machine that can go 88 mph+ and weighs a ton. Although there still are a lot of idiots who are in their 30’s, 40’s, 50’s 60’s + who still don’t give a damn about others but I think 14 is far too young to be allowed to drive a car! Stick to a bicycle/skateboard!

Part of the problem is the roads.
US is more spread out so cars are needed.
