Another ASJ Language Class grievance:
Right-e-o, remember the girl who never phoned me to tell me she wasn’t coming to the French class, a week or two back. Well I met her on Tuesday and she said she’d messaged me on Facebook but I amn’t friends with her on it so of course it went to my spam box, so I’d never see it. Anyways she told me that she would come Saturday evening, time to be decided but that she’d call/text me before Saturday. Anyhoo today came and I had no phone call or text, now I have my own life- my friends were going to meet up tonight and I said I couldn’t go because I have classes the majority of the day. She was meant to be the last one at 5pm-6pm.
So 1pm came and I still hadn’t got any message of recognition that she was/wasn’t coming. I messaged her on FB (I finally added her) and asked her was she coming or not and this is her reply:
“Hey ASJ…We are going away this evening.. Will next Tuesday suit at 4?”- no it won’t bloody suit, I have French classes in Galway on Tuesdays, the only fecking day I can’t give lessons is Tuesday and I’ve told her that- plus I am away for the next two weeks (from Mon-Fri) in Galway. Why didn’t you f**king text me that you were going away? Free up my evening for Christ’s sake if you aren’t going to show up. If I hadn’t messaged her she would have never told me and I would have been waiting around my house with the work THAT TAKES ME AT LEAST AN HOUR TO DO for her and she’d never show up.
Damn people, I told her I only have Saturday evenings free for now because I am not going giving up my Sunday morning which is the only morning that I don’t have something on.
And if she doesn’t show up next time, I’m dropping her- I amn’t that hung up for money.
Update: She told me last week that she’d be here at 2pm. She still wasn’t here by 2:20pm I rang her mother and asked her “is Blank coming?”—oooooh she forgot I’m so sorry”.
Thanks for appreciating my time. Anyways she showed up and while I normally teach for 1hr 15-30mins extra I only gave her a bare hour because she obviously doesn’t care.
Last night I asked her was she coming today, she said “yes” and we both agreed on 2pm again. It is 2:14pm, she isn’t here. She can f**k off now, I don’t care about her anymore as she obviously doesn’t care about me!

Really? I think it adds a nostalgic twist to get up to flip em over. That’s what I miss about cds.
My pet peeve is when the record speed button is left on 45rpm and Helter Skelter screaming is turned into Chip and Dale voices.

Might be terribly wrong but i’d be tempted to arrange a lesson for next time with the proviso that she must be there or that is it, and then never turn up – possibly phoning ten minutes after the appointment is meant to start saying you’ve been delayed and will be there as soon as possible. Waste the selfish inconsiderate little witches time as a right

I agree with Evangeline, having to flip it over is the best part– if you can’t be bothered to flip it then just play a CD or mp3.
In fact I used to stop my CDs at ‘the end of side one’ (the halfway point) and give the air a little silence for the record-flipping effect. Haven’t been bothered to do it in a while though.

I agree with Evangeline, having to flip it over is the best part– if you can’t be bothered to flip it then just play a CD or mp3.
I rarely play the records, I‘m an iPod guy! I did however play a couple of singles on the old Phonograph this morning and found that I kept having to get up to change it. But what I love doing sometimes for the nostalgia, is pulling out my LP’s or Singles just to look at while playing that LP on my iPod. It almost feels like I’m playing the album without all the muss and fuss.

Yeah she showed up at 20 past 2, she said she couldn’t find her exam papers, well a text wouldn’t go awry love 
Oh I am so tempted to do that pity the lessons are at my own house though
You see I would give her additional help if she actually showed up on time, I do extra work for people who show up on time and do their work for me. She just gets the bare minimum and it’s her own fault.

Nostalgia happens once – annoyance then sets in. I guess it’s good exercise. Unless you grab a snack during the break.
Disclosure – I don’t have a record player any more – long time gone – not missed.
