Seems there isn’t a topic for this.
I’ve participated in a few other forums dedicated to other bands/musicians — example Harry Connick Jr., Santana, James Taylor. What’s interesting is that no other forum I’m familiar with approaches this one for the amount of vibrant interest & input from fans. For example, on the James Taylor fan site, there’s not much action, and when you post a comment or question, sometimes it takes like MONTHS to get a response…!!!
The Santana site is a bit better — Moonflower Café — but even that one doesn’t hold a candle to this one.
I suspect it may have to do with some indefinable magic the Beatles had, and with Paul as such an ongoing activist of inspiration & energy keeping the flame of the Beatles alive.

Oh, it’s forUms
Here I was coming here and expecting to talk about symphonies, cantati (umm) and the like!! 🙂
Some of the others are a little more active than the ones you mentioned – there is a reasonably active Beach Boys forum out there, and of course the Steve Hoffman forums for discussion of all sorts of things musical. But this is certainly the one I have found most welcoming.

I was puzzled too so added the u to the topic title name. I think “forum” is what you meant, Pineapple Records. If not, I’ll change it back.
When I first got into The Beatles in 2013, I created an account on the Macca board. I’m not even sure if I made a post there. I decided I liked this site more because it seemed to be broader in scope (all The Beatles…not just Paul). If I am misrepresenting the Macca forum, my apologies. I haven’t looked at it in two years.
Yes, trc, this forum is very welcoming. The folks who were on here when I joined made me feel so comfortable even though I didn’t know much about The Beatles at the time. I hope I am passing that welcoming vibe along to others.

Thanks Ahhh Girl — I didn’t even notice my glaring typo! I too many years ago found my way to that Macca site, but I found it too busy (and anyway, being devoted to McCartney, it kind of substantiates my point).

I’ll have to check out the Beach Boys site cited by trcanberra — which somehow reminds me of another forum I’ve checked out, “Buffet World” (dedicated to Jimmy Buffet): while it looks respectably beefy & busy, on closer inspection it’s rather pathetically sparse, with hardly any real discussion of his songs and music per se. I suppose I could plunge into the deep end there and start asking some musical questions about Buffet’s albums, but I suspect it would hardly make a ripple, as most of the fan club would be kicked back poolside on recline, Raybans to the sun, mango daiquiris within reach…

I’m sure that many of you have visited Hey Dullblog. It’s been mentioned here in the Forum many times. It is quite different in tone and character, but there are often some very interesting and provocative articles. Some border on pretentious (whenever I see that word, I’m reminded of Frazier and Niles Crane’s favorite French restaurant: La Pretence), and many appear to be written for the purpose of allowing the author to show off a vocabulary rich in trendy buzz-words, but the discussions are often well written and thoughtful.

Pineapple RecordsI say in speeches that a plausible mission of artists is to make people appreciate being alive at least a little bit. I am then asked if I know of any artists who pulled that off. I reply, 'The Beatles did'.

This is one of two Forums I’ve ever joined*. I’ve lurked on other Forums about my other passion, baseball. But in those type of discussions, it’s mostly trolls talking smack and I have no patience for that. Quite comfy and cozy here, thank you very much.

I joined that forum too. I even have more posts than he does.
I also have an account on a bunch of other forums and most of the Beatles related ones though I don’t post much on most of them.

Yeah – I think, when I signed up, you and I might have been the only members other than him. I could be wrong about that.

Mr. Kite has a forum :O
I amn’t a member of any other music forum but I am a member of other just plain conversational ones because I get a lot of news and stuff through them and I’ve learnt quite a bit about other countries and what not.
This one is the best Beatles forum though- it looks professional, contains a load of information but isn’t overloaded and it’s relatively calm and quiet- unlike some forums where there are 5000 people posting at the same time as you and you don’t really get the personal connection feeling like you do on this forum.
That and everyone here (for the most part) is very nice and the mods and Joe do a great job getting rid of any time-wasters, trolls yadayada 🙂

It’s not really a music forum per se, but I find the youtube comment sections worthwhile sometimes. Yes, there are trolls, but they tend to disappear as the music gets older and more obscure 😉 I’ve learned a lot, and hopefully put out a couple useful bits, on youtube. Like that Bobbie shares author credit with Ketch Secor (of Old Crow Medicine Show) for Wagon Wheel – in fact now that I’m wandering off topic here’s his half-finished version from 1973:

^That bloody song, don’t mention it to me. Every single wedding. every outdoor concert. every bloody thing where there is a band or a DJ that damn song is played. It is probably my least favourite song of all time.

This version plays in London, @meanmistermustard, so should in Scotland.
Dylan’s original was not so much an unfinished song as a studio ad-lib from the Mexico City sessions for Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid.
The band don’t do a bad job of turning it into a full Dylanesque song, and Bob obviously approved as he gave it the go-ahead.

Kind of apart of like 2 other music forums. But, both of them I can’t post on because the website bloody refuses to send me a verification email. Plus, both of them are pretty much dead anyways. Plus, there isn’t even any real form of moderation at all on them, making it just feel.. um, crowded? Uncomfortable? Long story short: I am on other forums, I just don’t have the right to post, never mind log in

I’m on a few forums, musical and not, but this is the nicest one. I was active on talkbass for a while but most of those guys love their equipment too much or selfish virtuosos who don’t know how to play for a song, so I’m less interested these days except for information, and I find that’s the problem with most forums with a main subject, which makes this community that much rarer. I can handle forums you need a hard hat to hang out in, but they don’t get the full ewe2 experience
I'm like Necko only I'm a bassist ukulele guitar synthesizer kazoo penguin and also everyone. Or is everyone me? Now I'm a confused bassist ukulele guitar synthesizer kazoo penguin everyone who is definitely not @Joe. This has been true for 2016 & 2017 but I may have to get more specific in the future.
