I loves me a whole lotta Neil, going back as far as Buffalo Springfield, and of the albums of his I own, at least a half-dozen are stone cold classics…but I think he gets a little too much praise from rock critics who love to make a virtue of his ramshackle sloppiness. Like he can get away with writing some distinctly half-assed two-chord song with a meandering four-five minute guitar solo (backed up by the ever-workmanlike Crazy Horse) and nobody's gonna call him on it, just because, y'know, he's Neil Young, and nobody would ever dare suggest that he try editing himself or polishing the results a bit. You know? How can they tell the difference between integrity and plain laziness?
I liked the version of “Long May You Run” he sang in Vancouver to close the Olympics.

He's the BEST Canadian Music Artist Ever
One could argue the same for The Band (4 of the 5 were Canadian), but it is striclty a personal preference. I do know they all respected each other a great deal.
To the fountain of perpetual mirth, let it roll for all its worth. And all the children boogie.
