Bohemian Rhapsody is totally overrated though, i like the mama and rock sections but the opera section is dreadful and feels like it’s just there to elongate the song. It’s a bit like You Know My Name (Look Up The Number).
I never thought of it like that. I guess it is pretty overrated, but I really love it. It’s just so dramatic and fun.

My vote goes to Journey. I always thought of them as an average Run Of The Mill band of the era. But it seems that many You Tube channels that focus on classic rock seem to talk about them half the time while ignoring other more worthy bands. The Real Music Observer may be the worst example of this.
Also, in the Chicago area, most of the classic rock cover bands that perform at local bars and summer festivals seem to do a lot of Journey songs even though they are not official Journey tribute bands. Other 70s bands I like are never done.
I hate the way everybody these days give Journey so much attention these days. Other bands are more deserving.

Yeah. Idk why everyone likes Bohemian Rhapsody so much. Like, it’s not a bad song and I know they put effort into it, but SO overrated.
And even then it’s only one song. I just don’t see the depth of their catalogue outside the usual suspects, which have been overplayed and overemphasised too much already.
1.The Beatles 2.Sgt. Pepper 3.Abbey Road 4.Magical Mystery Tour 5.Rubber Soul 6.Revolver 7.Help! 8.Let It Be
9.A Hard Day’s Night 10.Please Please Me 11.Beatles For Sale 12.With The Beatles 13.Yellow Submarine

All modern music is overrated. (Lol besides All Star. What a tune XD). “Music” today is all made by a computer by someone with absolutely no talent whatsoever. Old music actually had meaning and actually sounded good and was made by real people with real talent.
I’m sorry you feel this way, but really this is one of the most close minded perspectives I’ve ever heard. I get the sense you don’t listen to any modern music beyond what you hear on the radio, and let’s be honest, the radio has always tended to focus on more shallow pop than innovative music.
Anyways, and I know this is off topic, I’d be happy to recommend you some modern music that is worth your time. It might not be quite as great as The Beatles (but then, what is?), but I do believe there is plenty of music coming out today that has meaning, sounds good and is created by people with ‘real talent’.
As for overrated bands, Queen have my vote. I’ve always liked them, but they were too much of a singles band for me.

I agree with this. There is plenty of good modern music out there and I have to say that making music with a computer isn’t as easy as it may seem. I have played around with a few music programs and it can be challenging to make music this way, I actually find it easier to write a song playing an instrument then using a computer program but I have more experience playing an instrument then on a computer so that might be why.

Precisely. Plus, who said a song needed to be complex or difficult to write to be good? Hey Jude , for example, is pretty simple and is one of the most beloved songs ever.

Good song overrepresented in popular culture (including in the “easier trivia” thread by myself and others)
I think even Queen haters (who I kinda emphasize with/usedta be one) can appreciate their basic immaculate craftsmanship, even if they dislike the results.

What I like about Queen is different styles represented in each song. I also like Freddie’s vocal range. But I just never found them or their music generally very interesting. In my opinion, The Bealtes are better than them and everyone else

I didn’t mean to sound close minded. Forgive me, sometimes I let my opinion out without check (and sometime without reason). I’ve always just loved the sound of older music. …i’ll go hide in my corner now and pretend not to exist…

I don’t agree that if you make music with a computer that you don’t have talent. A lot of great music has been made using a computer.

That’s true. My brother has messed around with such things, and while some of his creations aren’t great, others are pretty good. Everything I’ve ever tried has been crap, anyway. There’s definitely some degree of talent involved.

I’m sure what you have created hasn’t been as bad as you think it is. Keep trying and you never know what you might make.

I agree that something that is hard to make isn’t always good. My point was that I have tried to make some music through music programs and it can be a lot to get your head around which can be the same if you pick up an instrument for the first time.
