I guess some people may think Radiohead are ‘one hit wonders’, but they probably don’t realise that they’re not a ‘hits’ band and never have been.
Well, if they got one hit, they are one hit wonders regardless of their intent.

I’m not sure about that. Never in my life have I heard somebody talk about how great Radiohead is, or how big their impact was on the world. Smashing Pumpkins I have heard someone say they’re one of the greatest bands of all time, but only by one person who used to be a big fan. I think for you to say something like that about a band, they should at least have a little more recognition from society as these bands (isn’t Radiohead considered by some to be a “one hit wonder”???). Honestly, I would bet that most people wouldn’t even know who Radiohead or the Smashing Pumpkins are.
I have to politely disagree that most people wouldn’t know who Radiohead or the Smashing Pumpkins are. Those two bands may not be on your radar but it is considered an event whenever Radiohead release an album or do a tour and Ok Computer is consistently on the top of greatest albums lists.
The Smashing Pumpkins are a little different but they still tour and put out records but they had their most successful run in the nineties but people still go see them live and albums like Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness are put in high regard by a lot of people.

Well ‘one hit wonder’ normally implies a band that has only released one noteworthy song and are defined by it, which is simply not true in the case of Radiohead. As I said they are not a hits bad and shouldn’t be defined as such.
Even if you follow the ‘hits’ narrative they do have plenty of popular songs aside from Creep. Karma Police, Fake Plastic Trees, Lotus Flower, No Surprises and High & Dry are just a few examples.

Did anyone see the episode of South Park that featured Radiohead? It might be my favourite episode of South Park because it is so messed up.
OMG yes! top 13 South Park episode for sure! Radiohead appearance was just icing on the cake – calling Scott Tenorman a little pussy after Cartman’s revenge… 😀

That’s a great episode. A glimpse into the psyche of Eric Cartman. Not a particularly pleasant one.

I like to differentiate between Grade 3 Cartman, with the more gravelly voice and the bursts of brilliant stupidity; and the less shouty grade 4+ cartman who’s still stupid but often cunning as well.
Anyways back on topic…is Beyonce overrated? Maybe!

Possibly yes, but I think she’s one of the more bearable pop stars. In general pop stars are pretty overrated, aside from a select handful.
I think people like Ed Sheeran, Adele, Drake, Bruno Mars etc. are all overrated.

Drake is awful. Ive tried and tried to see what’s good about him but I’ve not. My cousin says he’s ‘chilled’ but I can’t relax to his music when his voice sounds so auto tuned (even when not auto tuned). I think Ed Sheeran, Adele and Bruno Mars are all fairly talented musicians though. The real awful ones are groups like The Chainsmokers or Drake.
I've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

They are talented in terms of their singing ability but I don’t think there’s anything particularly special about their songs/albums.
The Chainsmokers are ridiculously bad

Completely agree about Ed Sheeran – my friends were having a massive discussion about how bad he is. Almost no one at my school likes him, which is interesting given that we are the lower end of his target audience.
Though Drake is worse. Far, far worse. At least Ed Sheeran did a cover of a Beatles song.

His cover of In My Life is pretty good actually, Paul clearly enjoyed it but I’m not sure about Sean. I don’t mind his song ‘Castle On The Hill’ either.
I think he’s overrated in the sense that people think he’s really individual and different to other pop artists. His label are aware of this and are exploiting it.

Actually, I didn’t like Ed’s In My Life cover at all, whereas I enjoy most of his music. It’s my favourite song of all time, and I thought he just took away all of the intimacy of it, not because of his singing, but because of the way he played it on guitar. He was palm muting every. single. chord. The chord progression is beautiful, particularly that first A7. Why would you want to stifle that?

I agree with you there, I find his palm muting technique very annoying and is it’s present on a lot of his songs. It bugs me that people think it’s a unique sound.
What do you guys think of Foo Fighters? I find them a quite overrated personally

The Foo Fighters don’t have much good music, but I like Dave Grohl and they seem like good dudes.
The Chainsmokers, Ed Sheeran, Drake… all of it sucks.

I prefer Dave in Nirvana, as i think that Nirvana is a better band than Foo Fighters and that Dave Grohl is a drummer at heart. I love his drumming on No One Knows by Queens Of The Stone Age by the way. Also, i think that any band that doesn’t use actual drums (whether it be an acoustic or electric kit) completely sucks and is overrated if thought of as good.

Best Of You and Learn To Fly are pretty good songs. Apart from that Foo Fighters don’t really have much to speak of. I don’t think Ed Sheeran’s bad though, listen to Give Me Love or Small Bump, they’re pretty well written rootsy songs.
