Yeah, the Stones are better than Queen (though Queen’s best songs are better than the Stones’).
I've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

That doesn’t take away from the quality of the song though. Songs don’t get worse with multiple listens, just more annoying.
I guess so but there are some songs like Don’t Stop Believing and Margaritaville that i’ve heard so many times that i don’t want to hear them again.

How many albums by Queen are deemed so highly?
If you mean how many Queen albums are overrated, Made In Heaven is the only one i can think of. If you mean how many Queen albums are critically well received, a lot of them. I wasn’t sure what you meant so i put both.

But queen don’t have any real classic albums.. unless you count a Night At The Opera which is mostly considered one ’cause it’s got BR.

I think Queen, Queen II, Sheer Heart Attack, A Night At The Opera, A Day At The Races, and News Of The World are all classic albums, especially News Of The World which contains We Will Rock You, Queen’s most popular song and possibly the most popular song of all time.

That intro is so overrated and overplayed, it’s like Smoke On The Water or Stairway To Heaven.
I really feel this. It’s a great melody, but the fact that it’s played so many times unaccompanied really emphasizes the repetitive aspects.
I still think it’s a classic 80s landmark tho, and those Slash melodic leads throughout are alltime
Jazz is Queen’s real classic, I think – it’s kinda their Revolver or something…
I do so WISH I liked the Punkins! They definitely would’ve been a favorite if I were born 5-6 yrs later
GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

Considering even Radiohead themselves hate Creep, i think you might be right.
If we’re talking about non-rock acts, i think Justin Bieber’s new music is overrated, it’s worse than this older music IMO and i’d rather chop off my ears with a hacksaw than listen to his older music.

ANATO is the only one that regularly makes top albums of all time lists, and it has nothing on the best albums of The Beatles, Zeppelin, Floyd. Having one extremely iconic song doesn’t mean make it a classic album.

I’m not a huge fan of them, but I wouldn’t go as far as calling them overrated. Their albums are of a consistently high quality and they are consistently creative and experimental. However, Kid A is an extremely overrated album.

I think that all 6 of those albums have lots of great songs on it. For example, my favorite track from News Of The World is It’s Late, a rock number that’s 6 minutes long and contains 2 hand tapping before Eddie Van Halen and it’s just a great song IMO (which means in my opinion), it’s like the sequel to Tie Your Mother Down.

Doesn’t mean they are classics as such though. Queen have only 1 generally accepted classic album, Floyd have (at least) 4, Zep have maybe 4 or 5, The Stones have 4/5, the Beatles have 6+.

I actually think Radiohead are successors to the Beatles in many ways, and no I don’t think they are overrated given their consistency and development.
I’d argue that Creep is nowhere near their best song, it’s just their most famous.
As a Radiohead fan I can admit that a lot of fans worship them far too much though, so they are overrated if you follow their narrative.
@Dark Overlord look at Rolling Stone magazines list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. Queen only have one album on the list (A Night at the Opera at number 231).

I was worried somebody would say this.

I only say that because chronologically their artistic development is pretty similar from album to album. I’d also argue that both captured the zeitgeist of their respective eras.
Of course the Beatles are unparalleled in nearly every other respect though.

To be fair, Radiohead and the Smashing Pumpkins are the closest bands to the Beatles when you consider their entire discographies.

I completely agree with everything you said. Just like the Beatles Radiohead experimented with the newest recording technology and achieved sound collages and really pushed the boundaries regarding the integration of electronic sounds into their music. And the way they captured the dangers and problems accompanying the technological Revolution in their album OX Computer already 20 years ago is astonishing.
It’s true that far too many fans act like Radiohead were some sort of religion though, which is annoying and the comparison to the Beatles, which was initially only meant to represent how they pushed the boundaries of their time and developed something new, is far too often confused with the statement ‘Radiohead is as good as the Beatles’ which is simply, utterly untrue.
Anyway, in the sense of some diehard fans they are certainly overrated but, all in all, seeing how influential and innovative they were, I’d argue they are overrated.

I’m not sure about that. Never in my life have I heard somebody talk about how great Radiohead is, or how big their impact was on the world. Smashing Pumpkins I have heard someone say they’re one of the greatest bands of all time, but only by one person who used to be a big fan. I think for you to say something like that about a band, they should at least have a little more recognition from society as these bands (isn’t Radiohead considered by some to be a “one hit wonder”???). Honestly, I would bet that most people wouldn’t even know who Radiohead or the Smashing Pumpkins are.

I’m not talking about their popularity, or influence, I’m talking about their discographies. The discographies of both bands are similar to The Beatles in the way that they progressed as well as the consistency with which they change and reinvent themselves. Both bands follow the Beatles idea that every album has to be different.

I guess some people may think Radiohead are ‘one hit wonders’, but they probably don’t realise that they’re not a ‘hits’ band and never have been. That’s a pretty major difference between them and the Beatles, the Beatles continued to release hit singles even during their more experimental years. Back then bands were heavily defined by hits.
Radiohead’s actual album discography is practically flawless and they have tons of amazing songs.
Also i’ve heard plenty of people say how great and influential they are, for current rock artists i’d say they are actually very popular and one of the bigger bands out there. Sure a lot of people might not haven heard of them, but they don’t exactly make very accessible music.
