And i agree about Bruce Springsteen, he’s got some very good material but not worthy of the status that has been attached to the man.
Good to see I’m not the only one who feels that way. Some of his songs are stellar, but for the most part – meh. ‘Born in the USA’ makes me wish I wasn’t.
Do you feel that way because you’ve heard it so many times, or because of the song’s message? (For those who don’t know, “Born in the USA” is about a returning Vietnam vet and his disillusion of the country he fought for, yet so many still thinks it’s a “‘America is great!” anthem.)

I have a few…Bruce Springsteen (he was good in the 70s but anything after that is total bleh to me), U2 (I don’t see the hype), Radiohead (likewise), most indie bands like Arcade Fire & The Pixies, Coldplay and the Rolling Stones (I like a good amount of their songs, but overall they are pretty overrated)
Up until recently I would have said The Who & The Kinks, but I have heard more of their music recently and it’s pretty damn good.

What have you heard of theirs?

I listened to OK Computer, the Bends and Kid A. I wasn’t impressed with either of them. Paranoid Android is pretty good though. However, I also listened to Pablo Honey and I kind of enjoyed that.
All right. Just making sure you weren’t judging them (as some do) on their first or most recent albums (which also happen to be their two worst).
New Overrated band: Pink Floyd. I was about ready to fall asleep after the first two songs on Dark Side Of The Moon, and on almost every song I checked how much was left and said really? I’ve only been listening for one minute? Felt like about 7. I skipped to Money halfway through Great Gig In The Sky, since I heard it was good. I least it kept me kind of interested the whole length of the song. Then I turned it off halfway through Us and Them (and kept it off). So so boring.

Yeah, that’s their best stuff imo. The Wall is pretty dreary, but better than what little I’ve heard of their ’80s-and-beyond output.
No band should last more than 10 years! (Unless I really like them.)
lol at faceo mentioning Pink Floyd here on the basis of a cursory listening to one album. Did my bad example regarding Radiohead teach you nothing?

Yeah, oops. So I’ll say the album is really overrated.

Ooh man, the Eagles are terrible. It’s a true wonderment that such a ball of sour cynicism and weak songwriting and misogyny and bad drumming and antirocking-in-general could’ve sold so many millions of records – including the biggest goddamn selling album ever! So they could harmonize a little, big deal. Aren’t there a few dozen bands who could do it better? (Yes.)

Ahahaha, awesome! Thanks for that, Bob – I was considering throwing a gratuitous “I’ve been up all night and I hate the fuckin’ Eagles, man!” into my post, but wasn’t sure how many would get it. Plus I know we “Lebowski” fanatics can be obnoxious with the quotes (there’s one for every occasion.)
ASJr., I was going to correct you, but I looked it up first and, if Wikipedia is to be believed, Thriller has indeed overtaken the Eagles. So thanks for correcting me! (Thriller‘s a much better album anyways. And it ain’t that great.)
