Just wondering if there are any fellow fans of Mac Demarco on here?
Mac is a singer/songwriter and guitarist from New Columbia, and in my opinion he is the cream of the crop as far as contemporary rock orientated artists go, actually doing something original and not rehashing older ideas. His genre same is the self styled ‘Jizz Jazz’ and its a neo psychedelic mix of jangly guitar pop rock with a jazz vibe. He recently released his fifth studio album (third full length), This Old Dog, a more mature effort compared to his earlier releases such as 2 and Salad Days. His guitar work is certainly the highlight, and to be honest he’s my favourite alongside Johnny Marr right now
If you’re interested, here are a few of my favourite songs by him.
– He sounds like he’s using a slide but I’m not sure. Love the solo though.
– This pretty much defines his guitar style. The lyrics are about his parents’ reaction to videos of his behaviour at concerts.
– Absolutely amazing love song, just hypnotising.
– This one is more synthy, reminds me of another great song, ‘Redbone’ by Childish Gambino.

He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.
