Hmm.. well the only one I can think of off my top of my head is Stairway to Heaven. Well, it starts off slow and folksy, anyway.
Ah, actually, also by them there’s Going To California . That one is slow all the way through.
Moving along in our God given ways, safety is sat by the fire/Sanctuary from these feverish smiles, left with a mark on the door.

EDIT I’ve only just realised you said Heavy Metal. For some reason that bit didn’t go in!

Nothing Else Matters springs to mind. I bet there are loads but heavy rock isn’t really my thing.

Not sure exactly what you’re looking for here. Lots of people have different for what they consider a “hard rock” band/artist. However, here are two of my favourite songs of the ’80s.
Marillion were certainly a rock band, not sure if you’d call them “hard rock”. I love this song.
The Cult were a Goth band. Goth was a type of “hard rock”, very influenced by Led Zeppelin. This is their tribute to Andy Warhol muse Edie Sedgwick.
If this is the type of thing you’re looking for, I can make lots of suggestions.

And, of course, how can one forget Ozzy Osbourne doing his favourite Beatles song!

Though I do love the video he did for his version of How?. The rest may be a waste of space, but there’s something about Ozzy… and this video following him through New York to place some flowers I find touching.

Sticking with my Lennon covers theme that’s been happening, here’s Deep Purple doing Help ! on their debut album. Lennon, when reflecting on Help !, and commenting on how it started as a ballad and he made it more “poppy, Beatley”, he would often cite Purple’s version as closer to how he wrote it to be performed than The Beatles version.

Here is a delicate acoustic instrumental by Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi, which is even more impressive when you take into account they way he plays the guitar. Tony lost part of his middle finger in an industrial accident; when he plays, he puts a metal thimble on his finger to extend it to its original length! Wow, that is innovative!
