Sorry if there’s another thread like this.
Anyway, when I listen to music, I hear the next line in my head, and if it’s the end of the song, I hear the next track in my head. Does anybody else ever experience things like that? Doesn’t have to be exactly what I said; you can say anything that relates to things that happen when you listen to music.

I’ve never experienced what you describe. I’m just caught up in the flowing moment as it unfolds, I guess.
You might like a famous quote someone once made, defining architecture as “frozen music”.
Which I suppose could mean that music is “liquid architecture”…

That’s an interesting definition; I’ve never thought of architecture like that, but it makes sense from a certain point of view.
Music is liquid architecture… I suppose it makes sense if one thinks about it. “Architecture” could mean the structure of the music, and “liquid” could be the way the music flows… or maybe I’m over-analyzing your interpretation.

Whaaaat??! I was totally talking about this exact thing today. I do it all the time! Usually it is how the album goes, but back in the day, when we still made “mix tapes” off the radio (in the 90’s), sometimes there would be a song I would get off the radio, and at the end the announcer would come on and start to talk before I hit stop. For years after that, every time I hear that song, I would start to hear that announcer, or maybe what the next song on that mix tape was.
On the subject of the Beatles, I get this a lot because of the “1” album. It is the first one I owned, so for example, if I am listening to the Magical Mystery Tour album and I listen to “Hello Goodbye “, I will start to hear “Lady Madonna ” start to play in my head, instead of “Strawberry Fields Forever ” which comes next. Does that make sense?
"Please don't bring your banjo back, I know where it's been.. I wasn't hardly gone a day, when it became the scene.. Banjos! Banjos! All the time, I can't forget that tune.. and if I ever see another banjo, I'm going out and buy a big balloon!"

Egroeg Evoli and LongHairedLady, I do that too with songs on the radio if I have the albums.
I had mix tapes off the radio too, and once I taped “Michelle ,” followed by The Carpenters’ “Rainy Days and Mondays.” So at the end of the first, I always hear the opening bars of the second in my head.

Yeah, that happens to me all the time! One that comes to mind is the beginning of LOVE. As soon as Because finishes, I hear You Never Give Me Your Money instead of the The End /A Hard Day’s Night /Get Back /A Day In The Life that comes next. And it happens all the time when my Beatles playlist is on shuffle.

Another weird thing that happens to me is I’ll sing a song when the music isn’t playing, and I’ll forget some of the words, but then I’ll put the song on and sing along and I’ll remember the words, and as soon as the song is over, I’ll forget the words again.

Been there often and it’s damn annoying – especially when you play it to bring about the missing lyrics.

Often I’ll get into humming and/or singing a song I know well or dimly, then later when listening to it learn I’ve got some parts of it wrong, and/or have left out parts, and/or have added new things that weren’t in the original.
I did that with the Mexican classic “Farolito”. When I decided I wanted to learn that song in earnest as part of my cover repertoire, I consciously avoided listening to the original, because I liked my bastardization of it so much, I didn’t want the real original to spoil it.

Sometimes I’ll listen to a song 5000 times and only get half the words while other songs I can hear it once an know all the words.

I was watching this Pink Floyd documentary and they raised an interesting point: that the fact that Pink Floyd were all architecture students influenced their music– that because of learning architecture, they had a really good feel for musical structure (think Shine On You Crazy Diamond). Particularly Roger Waters, of course, but the others as well.

I had a compilation CD a while back which had Help ! followed by Eleanor Rigby , and now, when listening to the album Help !, I never expect The Night Before , I always expect Eleanor Rigby . Always.

I first heard a lot of songs from Yellow Submarine Songtrack , so my associations were a little bit wonky, but as soon as I could, I trained myself to associate the proper UK album running orders, because running orders matter a lot to me.
