Hi Holly (beatlewife), I hope you check out the topic I posted a while back: Question for the Young Beatles Fans Here
https://www.beatlesbible.com/f…..fans-here/
My main question there wonders, what are the exact mechanisms by which a person who is, say 21 now (meaning they were born in the early 1990s), would become a fan of a band that ended its career in 1969? This amazing unique phenomenon still hasn’t been fully explained to my satisfaction. Sure, we can say “it’s because of the great music”. But somehow that doesn’t explain the very unusual fact — especially when we factor in how ruthlessly fashion-conscious young people are, and the powerful incentives of peer pressure and being “cool” often translating as being au courant. It would be like coming across thousands of kids today all emulating and cultivating Jimmy Dean, or something. Sure, there may be a few dozen doing that, but nowhere near the numbers who are into the Beatles.

Hi all, I’m Holly, 21. I just joined this forum and I haven’t been on a beatles forum in quite some years (since I was mere teen). So I’m a bit rusty at all this since I’ve moved to tumblr. But I’m currently a film major in college at Columbia College which is in chicago. I study directing and screenwriting and I hope to move out to L.A. within the next couple of years (fingers crossed!) and George Harrison is my favorite Beatle with John Lennon coming in a close second, but I love them all equally. I’ve been a fan since I was 13 and had a massive crush on George Harrison whilst growing up so I have a bit of (bit? more like a huge) a soft spot for him. Also I love writing and reading and films and especially old classic films, and I’ve recently gotten super in television & loved shows such as Breaking Bad, Mad Men, etc. I used to play the Oboe for about 10 years but stopped after I graduated high school and pursued other interests. So yes I can read music even though it’s been a long time haha. So I’ve always been strongly interested in music and The Beatles were a major influence on me and are a major part of my life and who I am. So yeah, if you ever want to chat or follow me on tumblr just let me know! <3
Welcome to the forum! My tumblr is http://dig-a-pygmy.tumblr.com if you’d like to follow I will follow back!
Hope you enjoy the forum!

Hullo fellow fab four fanatics! I joined this forum because of my rather recent addiction to the Beatles. It all started a couple months ago, and before that I only listened to classical music. Since then I’ve bought sixteen albums and seen their movies, interviews, etc.
I’m sixteen and what’s really sad is the kind of music my peers listen to. None of my friends like the Beatles. Boy are they missing out… I’m beginning to drive some of them mad with my constant references, so hopefully this forum will satisfy my need to discuss the best band to ever exist with people who feel similarly. I think the people here are real gear.
P.S. I love you

P.S. We Love You To . You have made it to your Nirvana, your heaven, your Beatles-place-on-Earth. With a cool name like yours, we hope to see you posting all around the forum.
Funny Paper started a thread that is trying to get in to the head of people just like you. I would love to see your response to his question. The most recent iteration of the question is just a few posts above yours.

Welcome to the site. I imagine you’ll like it here We’re the same age so I get what you mean about most other people our kind of age. Still, you’ve seen the light and that’s all you need to worry about!
By the way, love the username!

Hello all! I’m a longtime Beatles fan from America, and I’ve been lurking about the site for a few days. I’m part of that demographic bridging the gap between the older fans and the younger generation of fans – halfway to 64 to be exact. I’m an ecclectic quasi-hipster nerd with too many interests to rattle off in an introductory post. I enjoy art, movies, comics, gaming of every variety, and interesting music of any genre (a lot of which came out before I was born, ie Can, Kraftwerk, Joy Division, etc). I chose my username because I happened to be listening to Magical Mystery Tour at the time and I hoped it would be somewhat clever and even more somewhat not in use.
In lieu of too many boring personal details, I’ll rattle off some obligatory Fab Four statistics to get started.
Favorite beatle: John
Favorite album: Varies, but usually Abbey Road or Sgt. Pepper ‘s depending on my mood (and I totally <3 Past Masters vol 2)
Favorite song: Varies even more, but I never get tired of “A Day In The Life “. Pure perfection.
Favorite album cover: Revolver
Really dig the site, and the forums look like a great place too!

Welcome beatlewife, You Know My Name, and 4or5Magicians (and any other newer members I’ve missed).
It is always good to see our happy band growing, and I look forward to your contributions to our conversations. Dive in, give opinions, ask questions… we have a great bunch of people here.
4or5Magicians, clever name, and always happy to see a new John fan here. Far too many Paul lovers ! We need more balance!
Joy Division before you were born! Sometimes people here make me feel old!

Welcome 4or5Magicians.
I’ve noticed your screen name for a few days listed down at the bottom of the forum pages in the “newest members” list and hoped that you would jump into the conversation.
I see that your location is “Sitting on a cornflake…”. I don’t know if you have noticed that we have a member with that screen name. That’s just kind of a funny image … your John avatar sitting on his John avatar, like this:
Hope you have fun, share your knowledge and thoughts with us, and learn a thing or two about the Beatles along the way.

Its great to meet everybody.
I’m Jack from Dublin, Ireland and, despite being 22, I’m rather ashamed to confess that I discovered the greatest band in history just a few months ago. I bought a “Sgt Pepper ” CD last November after hearing “For the benefit of Mr Kite” for the first time and comprehending the utter force of musical ability inherent in every chord. Since then, I’ve raided Itunes and have amassed around 100 songs by the band.
Favorite Album : Abbey Road
Song: 1. Here There And Everywhere 2. A Day In The Life 3. In My Life 4. I’ll Follow The Sun 5. Mr Kite!
Solo Song: Lennon’s God ( very closely followed by Working Class Hero )
I stumbled across this site during the Christmas holidays and have used the forum to investigate the repertoire. I finally got around to contributing because I can’t sleep!
I look forward to exploring further
All the best,
Jack

Hi Jack,
AppleScruffJunior is from Ireland, too. She will be glad you’ve landed here.
I’m so proud of the Beatles. Their music is soooooo awesome it keeps bringing folks into the fold.
Don’t feel bad, Jack. I didn’t find the Beatles until I was 45 (last May).
Welcome, welcome!

Welcome, Jack! You just won me over with the Working Class Hero love!
That’s great! I hadn’t noticed that at the time. No relation, lol. I’ll probably end up changing my location semi-frequently at any rate!

4or5Magicians – well, they were on a Magical Mystery Tour !
How ironic, AG, my baby sister was 45 last May, being almost exactly a year older, I passed 46 the day after (we have one day a year when we’re both the same age!).

Oops, I didn’t write that out very well. I turned 45 in April. I “met” the Beatles, 5 weeks and 2 days later on 26 May.
But, that is a neat thing to learn about you and your sister. That means you and I spend at least a few days each year as the same age. But, you are light-years older than me in Beatles-knowledge age. You continue to impress me to no end.

Just spotted this thread, so after making a few posts now thought it apt to say “hello”. I stumbled across this place when doing a bit of research, glad I did.
I’m Alex and I’m a Beatleholic. No matter how much I embrace other musicians, I always come back to The Fabs.
As you have probably sussed out, I play drums, although not in public for a while. I’m a sound professional working mainly in TV and am dabbling in a bit of writing when between jobs.
So there you go – great place with some really knowledgeable people – Hi!
