My name is Simon. I was born December 11, 2000. I live in Pittsburgh, PA, USA. I play hockey (ice and deck), and I play bass (upright and guitar). My favorite TV shows are Doctor Who and Saturday Night Live, and my favorite movies are Moneyball and Men In Black.
I’ve liked the Beatles since I was 5, I listened to the Red Album on my mom’s old record player. I knew all the really popular ones and liked them, and I played Yellow Submarine and Sgt. Pepper ‘s/With A Little Help From My Friends in a concert, but didn’t become a huge fan until I got Beatles Rock Band. It introduced me to slightly obscure songs such as Do You Want To Know A Secret and Dig A Pony . After that, I rapidly ended up with all the UK LPs except for Magical Mystery Tour . I now listen to them nonstop. My favorite songs are probably And Your Bird Can Sing , A Day In The Life , and It’s All Too Much (although it could do with being 3 minutes shorter, I think its should fade the horn solo out). I really hate Piggies . I REALLY hate Piggies . I don’t like Julia or Blue Jay Way . I believe George really was either fantastic (It’s All Too Much , Something , While My Guitar Gently Weeps ) or really horrible (Piggies , Blue Jay Way ) although there’s more of the better. My favorite albums are Abbey Road and A Hard Day’s Night . My least favorites are The White Album and Beatles For Sale . I believe the Abbey Road Medley to be the best 15 minutes of music ever made. Looking forward to posting!

Welcome to the forum, Simon. Looking forward to your posts.
Magical Mystery Tour is one of my little bugbears. Assuming you have Yellow Submarine (sometimes people forget that one because of the George Martin stuff on it), you have all the UK LPs. MMT is an American album that was not released in the UK until 1976. In the UK the MMT were released as a double-EP. In America, Capitol took the UK double-EP, made that one side of an LP, and threw the remaining 1967 single tracks on the b-side. The Beatles played no part in putting the album together.

Welcome aboard Simon – great intro!!
Magical Mystery Tour is one of my favourites, as we had the LP here in Australia way back when – and having the book LP size rather than EP was well worth ignoring the fact that it was not ‘Beatles certified’. At the time it also made those songs on side 2 much easier to get hold of. Now they are on CD it is more of a moot point and (as I think mja has already suggested) it could have all been on Past Masters and we wouldn’t have to have All You Need Is Love on 2 CDs – it would have made the Masters booklet rather chunky though.

Ah, right. I meant I don’t have the songs on Magical Mystery Tour . I don’t have the double EP or the LP. And now I’ve made myself look like an idiot. Ah, well.
On the It’s All Too Much cut, it’s much better, yes. I haven’t seen that sequence for a while because my DVD of Yellow Submarine can’t get past the Hey Bulldog scene.

Hey hey – no no no worries on the Tour, we just run off on tangents occasionally.

Honestly, you haven’t. Like I said, it’s just one of my bugbears. Too many people believe it’s one of the proper albums rather than a compilation. That annoys me. And when you said “the UK albums except…”, it just sounded like you’d made the mistake many others do. Again, welcome, and good to have you here.

Hello! I’m Maria from a small country behind the moon (as my friend likes to joke). For many years, “The Beatles” was just a name to a band from the 20s or 80s to me; those decades have a silly explanation. When I was ten or eleven, we read this book called “Martha” in school. It was about a silly teenage girl who fell in love with a silly Teddy boy and in the end she tried to commit suicide. It was the first story that really got to me. Martha’s favorite song was “Let it be”, and easily so, it became my favorite as well, although I had barely heard half of it once. But at least the chorus stuck, so whenever someone would ask me what my favorite song was, I’d sing “Let it be, oh let it be”. Our teacher assured us the book was written in the 30s, so I just figured the great Beatles were from around that time. A month or two later, though, a friend of mine said they were from the 80s, and that left me a bit skeptic. But I couldn’t find out more about the Beatles, so I just promised that “Let it be” would be my favorite song forever, no matter how little I knew of them. Funny, because when I was thirteen, my dad shouted from the other room “Come, Maria, they’re singing your favorite song on Idol!” or whatever singing competition was on back then. But it was a weird medley with “Knocking on Heave’s door”, and I said to him, “but dad, Knocking on Heaven’s door isn’t my favorite song!” All he did was laugh at me, and it wasn’t until my sister told me that I didn’t recognize parts of my favorite song that I realized the horrible mistake I had done. That was the day I forgot about the Beatles. However, I did make a new friend once, just because she had “Let it be” on her cell phone. I made sure to transfer it via infrared.
But we had no internet then and the music I listened to was limited to the CD’s my aunt would give me.
I started playing the guitar around that time, and “Can’t Buy Me Love ” was the first song I could play that had bar chords (which felt like conquering the world at the time). That happened one night when I was watching the film with the same name, and my dad suggested we should learn to play it. Afterwards, he played a bunch of Beatles songs that didn’t catch my attention, and now I realize that it’s because his playing barely resembled them.
My next big contact was when I watched the film “Across The Universe ,” and I loved the music, but was obsessed with Jeff Buckley at the time and wouldn’t get around listening to anything else.
A year ago, I became addicted to Taylor Momsen’s cover of “All You Need Is Love “, and looked up the original version of the song. I liked it, but it didn’t amaze me, and I got the picture that the Beatles were a bunch (and a bunch being more than ten people!) of 30-40 year old hippies. Why?!
So you can see, it took me a while to get to know them. That happened four months ago and it is the best thing that happened to me – speaking musically. I watched the Glee Beatles dedicated episodes, and my dad was in the room, and the next few hours we spent with playing Trackmania and listening to every Beatles song that would come to his mind.
I immediately got hold of their entire discography. “A Hard Day’s Night ” was my first favorite song, followed by “I Saw Her Standing There .” I started listening to everything chronologically and haven’t stopped since.
I can’t say there are songs I don’t like, but there are a few I like less the others. But it always depends on the day and the mood I’m in to which songs I prefer. I usually fall asleep listening to the whole Let it be album and wake up to Sargent Pepper or Magical Mystery Tour and stuff like that. When I’m not listening to their music, you can probably find me playing and singing it.
Wow, that was a very unnecessarily long introduction. Oh, what can I say, when I start talking about the Beatles, it becomes very difficult to stop.
A friend of mine sent me a few links that lead me to this forum, and I absolutely love it! I hope I will be welcomed

Welcome. I really like the colorful description of a “small country behind the moon.” And the nickname “ScrambledEggs” is pretty sophisticated for somebody that only discovered the Beatles a few years ago. We are looking forward to hearing more from you.

¡Hola!
Hi to you all! How are you? I hope fine. Well I guess to introduce myself again to the forum I’m Mithveaen from Mexico. I used to hang out in here 2 years ago, but I started my Master’s degree and I had to focus most of my time on that. But I’m done with the classes, I just need to get my degree (I have to finish my thesis for that).
I’m a huge Beatles fan since I was a kid. My favorite Beatle is (as you can see ) George I have seen Paul twice and Ringo once in concert. I am also a Lord of the Rings fans (my name is kind of elvish) and I love books, my favorite author is Jane Austen. I also watch TV shows, like Sherlock (I love Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman and Rupert Graves), Person of Interest (I love Jim Caviezel and Michael Emerson). I love movies, but I don’t go that often, too expensive and I hate people talking on the phone. I’m addicted to twitter, and now I can bake awesome cupcakes.
Well this is me.. again… so hi everybody
