Libraries: Love them, the thought of getting to read books and not have to pay ’tis great! But as I have commented before there are no Beatles books in my public library!!!!! And the next closest library is 30 mins away from in the car and I can’t drive for another 2 years!
It looks like Ireland has a robust Interlibrary Loan system set up. Ask the librarians at your local library about having books from other libraries sent to you local library for you to check out.
You, my dear friend are an absolute legend. I was always shy about asking my librarian for Beatles books but I can just put in my library card code number and a text will be sent to me once they’re in the library. I’ll never have to my face my librarian yayyy
Oh and a million apples for you too

^ I do really love libraries, yes. Well, to be more specific, I love the smell of libraries. That dusty smell, can’t beat it
Wow, I have never had anybody agree with me on that. People always Look At Me funny when I smell books, but it’s for real the greatest smell ever, new or old.
And WRLCOME TO THE FORUM ALL YOU NEW PEOPLE!!!?!

Haha yeah, I’ve had that funny look time and time again. Used to care, now I just don’t
I’m a book sniffer from way back too *wave*
I have a collection of old Encyclopedias / Encyclopaedias dating from 1875 to the present day and each has its own characteristic and distinctive odour. I can’t pick up a volume without checking that the smell is still safely there – I find it oddly comforting!

1875? Wow. I’d love to own something that old. I think the oldest book I own is my great-grandmother’s copy of a book called ‘Ballet Shoes’ – printed in 1917 if I remember correctly. That one smells divine, and yes, oddly comforting.

Libraries are very cool places, love the smell of an old library building, very welcoming and soothing (the new ones are normally odourless). Shamefully there are ongoing plans to reduce the number of libraries in the UK due to finance, its seemingly dropped off the media radar at the moment. A ridiculous idea that would be detrimental to local communities and take so much away from those who get so much benefit from them (eg the elderly). I loved going to the local library as a kid and having all these wonderful books to read, so many options.

My town has been debating for years whether to get rid of the youth club or the library. It’s sad that either has to go as both places have played a big part in the local comunity for years (the dos at the YC in the late 70s/80s are somewhat notorious), but the reality is that neither are used very much – the library unfortunately isn’t that big so everyone goes to another one that’s further away.

Hallo, I’m Alessio, 43, from Cerveteri, near Roma (and very near to the sea), Italia. I’m a P’liceman and I like to play bass and sing in my free time. I love the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Grateful Dead, Janis, Jimi, Pink Floyd, Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, Aretha, Miles Davis, John Coltrane and other 100…
I love all the Fabs’ albums, anyway my favourite ones are “Revolver ” (that is my all-time-ever n. 1 lp) and “Abbey Road “.

Sweet Ballet Shoes! One of the books I used to read as a young sprite and may/may not read at least once a year (It’s a great book to read when you’re sick and if you have a spare 2 hours you can get it read then). I always wanted to be like Pauline…..
Benvenuto to the forum Alessio! I’ve never been to the mainland in Italy- I’ve only been to Sicily but I think I’m flying into to Venice next year and moving on to Austria so that should be good!

G’day all – just found this forum and I thought I’d join. When I was thirteen my mum bought me the blue double album for Christmas 1976 and I was hooked. Still have my original vinyl records which get an airing from time to time (there’s nothing like opening up a 12 inch gatefold cover) and I’ve repeated everything on CD too. I’m not so bothered about the new digital stuff though. Wish I’d been born fifteen years earlier in Liverpool so that I could have seen them live!
