@jamessick, have you gotten past thinking that the group looked “too threatening” on their later albums? Does your sister still listen to the Beatles? Have you followed the solo careers of the Fab Four throughout the years?
Since it was 38 years ago when I bought my first record album, I should hope so!And for the last five years, I would say I have probably played the later albums more so than the early albums.
I have bought one album of each Beatle in the post-beatle era. The first one was Ringo’s Sentimental Journey, which is an album of 1930-1950 standards. But on our dorm floor, all my friends could sing along with Ringo, and either sing as good or better (at least that’s what we thought). I bought Paul’s Tug Of War shortly after it came out. I got John’s and Yoko’s Milk And Honey , but I was a little shocked at the inside photo, and the alternating John songs with Yoko songs drove me crazy; sorry, I just cannot get into her material (e.g. the song Sanity). Plus her songs are produced and polished, while John’s songs are pretty raw with piano and maybe a rhythm box. Then I bought George’s triple album All Things Must Pass , and was blown away; a great output. One record is nothing but a jam session (I could have down without the poster of George, though). All those I listened to in the 80s, but when I made the conversion from vinyl to CD, the only one (so far) that I have in CD format is All Things Must Pass . I have heard a lot of George’s stuff after his first solo is very hit or miss. I have lately been thinking about getting into Paul’s stuff; I copied from a roommate Wings Greatest Hits and Ram , but that was recorded onto cassette tape, which I can’t even play any more. I had a decade in the 90s where I was more into American Folk music from the 19th century, and only in the last 18 years have I upgraded most of my albums to CD. I suppose I may try downloads, but I have heard that they can go back in and take back the music, while a CD you own forever (don’t know how true that is, probably just an urban legend).

Ooh, All Things Must Pass is good stuff. As for George’s solo career being hit-and-miss… well… I may be biased, but it’s all pretty amazing. I think he definitely has the best solo career out of the four Beatles.

Of course George’s career was hit-or-miss, all of them had misses, but I’d say George had a more consistent career than any of the other Beatles. (I’m also biased as I’ve listened to his stuff the most. )

Hello everybody !
I must first apologize since I forgot to introduce myself from the very beginning of my stay in this wonderful place. Shortly about myself:
My name is Andrei 46 years old and I live in France. A clarinet teacher at a conservatory of music in southern France, I have always been a devoted Beatles fan since 1982 when I first heard the White Album .
I am not a fan of various details in their history (I don’t know when the Beatles lost their first tooth or what brand of guitar string was used at the first concert …). I am more interested in their music and from childhood I dreamed of playing these wonderful songs on my own.
The circumstances were such that parallel to my career as a musician, I created my own recording studio. For 20 years I have been recording various artists, but I have never had time for my passion for the Beatles. But now I firmly decided that we have only one life and that if not now it means. .. Never! And so I just recently began to slowly write down the Beatles cover. This is my main hobby (after my children, whom I also dragged into this epic!). And now, with great pleasure, we and the whole family are creating our common and ambitious project: to record all the Beatles songs using exclusively original type guitars. I had the honor to open a separate thread on this wonderful forum, so come and visit to listen to another novelty from crazy France 🙂 I’m trying to release at least one cover per month.
Have a good day (Sunshine ) 🙂

Hello to all you fab people, I wanted to introduce myself as I just joined the forum yesterday *pun intended* (but actually I did). I’m 22 years old and I live in the north of England and right now I’m completing my Masters degree in which I’m writing my Dissertation on The Beatles no less! (It doesn’t even feel like work haha!) I have always been active on social media as it’s the place where I feel like I can find the most Beatles fans and I met two of my closest friends through this amazing fandom.
I am a regular writer, and write Beatles fanfiction which you can find on Wattpad – I have previously written one book (which was a bit of a hit!) and I am currently working on a sequel which I try to post chapters for regularly!
I also took up the guitar around 8 years ago now, being inspired by The Beatles, and I am an avid record collector – I collect both Beatles records and their solo stuff (my favourite solo stuff is probably George’s). I had the amazing opportunity to see the one and only Paul McCartney live TWICE and it was the most amazing experiences of my life! My favourite Beatle is Paul (but George is a very close second) and I have been a Beatlemaniac since about the age of 15.
So that’s it, From Me To You !
