Nice to meet you @HappyHaggis I sure wish I was a 1st gen fan (preferably one of the younger ones that were into the TV show and the Yellow Submarine movie), it’s a shame that there isn’t a lot of 1st gen fans on this website and the few who are either aren’t typically on and or stick to a couple of threads, although 2nd gen fans are great people to be around as well and we wouldn’t have this site if people only listened to new music, as the head master of this forum Joe is a 2nd gen fan himself.

@Dark Overlord I guess that a lot of first gen fans are of an age that they don’t delve as deeply in the internet as younger fans do. I know my brother, who is only 5 years older than me, doesn’t join communities like this. Shame really, as he probably has as many memories as me.
I think it’s a credit to the group that so many younger folks are so enthusiastic about them. Kudos to Joe for his devotion to this amazing site.

Heh, not me! My parents aren’t really Beatles fans, and I got into them myself. Thanks, me!

I’m a second gen fan whose parents were not fans. They were more into folk music, country, and 50s rock like Bill Haley, Fats Domino and Elvis.
Except my mom hates country music and Elvis, so I followed her lead for many years until I discovered them both myself (I like Elvis, The Carter Family and Johnny Cash–although I have liked some Cash since childhood: my father played guitar and sang The Ballad of Ira Hayes for me numerous times. My parents often sang folk and gospel duets).
My mom liked The Everly Brothers.
My dad liked The Carter Family, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson.
They were both big into John Denver, Ian and Sylvia and Peter, Paul and Mary, and they had a couple early Bob Dylan albums.
They instilled a love for acoustic music in me. I also like Ian and Sylvia and to an extent John Denver, and to a lesser extent Peter, Paul and Mary.
Thanks to @Ron Nasty I am also now a big Bob Dylan fan, whereas before I was more of a latent or casual fan.

I’m sure you won’t regret it @William Shears Campbell it’s a great all round experience.
It has been about 3 months, and I have really been enjoying it. I’ve gotten a descent collection of records so far, and will definitely continue.

I think you missed my point. I’m saying my parents (2nd gen fans, like you are) were/are fans. Not my parent’s parents.

Can somebody fill me in on the situation with @Dark Overlord?
I always thought it was funny how Sgtpepper63, HMBeatlesfan and Starr Test had uncannily similar obsessions with Queen and the instruments used on songs.
As I understand they are all one person now… who is my age?
