Introduce yourself to the forum! | Page 160 | Fab Forum | The Beatles Bible

Hi All,

Already been posting here a little bit so you may have seen me around but thought I’d introduce myself properly.

I’m a singer/songwriter and I had just got into the Beatles music a couple of months before “Free As A Bird ” and the Anthology was shown on TV (Great timing!).  My girlfriend at the time had a karaoke game on her computer and “Yesterday ” was one of the tracks.  We both liked it and started going through our parent’s old LPs.  One of the first Beatles albums I heard was “Let It Be ” and I loved it.  Obviously getting to watch the Anthology was a brilliant way to learn more about them.  

I’d been playing guitar a little before then, teaching myself how to play and one thing that struck me about The Beatles was that they wrote their own songs.  My main influence before was Cliff Richard who usually had songs written for him so to see the Lennon/McCartney partnership was quite an eye opener.  (Hadn’t really noticed many of George’s at that stage).  So, I began to write my own songs, the first one being for my girlfriend and now I’m doing music (and art and writing) for a living.  

At college I was asked to fill in for an unreliable bass player in someone’s band.  I’d never played before but had a go and they took me on permanently 🙂  I borrowed the college’s bass guitar and began learning more by following a certain Mr McCartney’s bass lines (which then helped me get into Paul’s solo stuff). 

Now I’m playing bass in a blues/Rock ‘N’ Roll band and getting to play some of the songs I learnt when I was getting into the Beatles including some I sing myself, “I Saw Her Standing There “, “Everybody’s Tryin’ To Be My Baby” and some the Beatles recorded solo like “Slippin’ and Slidin'”, “No Other Baby” and “Honey Hush”.  

I also run my own entertainment company with my wife, producing original music, art, comics and writing.  I play guitar, bass, sitar and keyboards.  

We have two beautiful kids and my other interests away from music include studying the Laws of the Universe, Ancient Egypt and Formula One 🙂

Thank you all for the warm welcome, nice to be here 🙂  That idea for the Beatles Bible Band sounds great.  I do have a lot on but if I can help in anyway please let me know and I’ll do what I can 🙂
