Not only being new to this forum, I’m also new in discovering how quintessential the Beatles’ music is. Music has been a part of my life since I can remember. I’ve been classically trained in piano and voice. This doesn’t exactly fit the genre, but I began discovering other music (after the awful pop faze)–Broadway, Disney, oldies, ’80’s, and now the Beatles.
I’d heard Beatles songs before, of course, but didn’t (gasp) think much of them. I didn’t understand the hype. But since around August, I haven’t been able to stop listening to them. It was gradual/tentative at first, but now I’ve opened up to all of their music. I never would’ve thought that a few mere months ago I would’ve liked this “psychedelic” genre. Can anyone tell me how this happened?
What now? Well, it’s great to see that this website and forum is dedicated to keeping their music alive. They’ve taken almost everything off Youtube. Does anyone know what business made them do that? Other artists’ albums are still there, so it must be the affiliated company that owns their music. Anyway, the Beatles are very inspiring and it would be the best thing in the world to re-inspire people with them and my own music I’m writing. 🙂

Welcome aboard @KaleidoscopeMusic, I suspect you will find The Beatles a lot more than just ‘psychedelic’ – which may be part of the hold they are developing on you.
YouTube? Not sure – but Beatles official videos have been popping up on other sites so that may be part of the reason.

@Zig Thanks for the welcome!
@trcanberra Exactly–they’ve basically done every genre. All the official videos are there, but there’s only a few. All the albums are gone and so are the lyric videos and live performances.

That is more blocking the music in the U.S.A I’m not sure why though.

The Beatles videos will be getting taken off YouTube as the official DVD is coming out. Would be daft for Apple to be releasing them officially and allow any interested folk to just go on YouTube and watch them all freely. They done the same thing before when the films were re-released (tho i think most if not all are back up).
Not sure of the logistics but it wouldn’t surprise me if the same action is taken when the Live project is released next year.

Ah well, YouTube videos are like weeds… perhaps a nonsensical-sounding simile, but I mean you can thrash ’em and thin them out and think you’ve eradicated them, but they’ll grow back sooner or later.
And I admit, it ain’t exactly right and legal.. you should pay for your listening rights, and then you don’t have to be at the mercy of your WiFi and some random person who thinks George says ‘Penny roll’ and not ‘let it roll’ in his lyrics to Ballad Of Sir Frankie Crisp and separates the Abbey Road Medley into misleading chunks. But it’s an excellent way to discover just what you’re going out to buy before you decide to go and buy it, just as long as you do go out and buy it; therefore, it is quite irritating that all those videos are being blocked and/or removed.
Just my opinion, and highly off-topic it is too. Hm, perhaps we ought to start a thread about this… it’s generating enough discussion.

Thanks for explaining. It’s just irritating because so many other albums are on there–of course they would take off the Beatles. What’s the Live project?

Artists do deserve the credibility of getting paid for their songs. Too bad Paul and Ringo don’t own the rights anymore. Go ahead and start a new thread if you’d like! I feel bad for continuing on this topic when I’ve already introduced myself. 😛

Don’t fret, you can play Beatles songs with proxy. It’s weird how it’s only the US that it’s blocked in instead of like off the interwebs forever.

So uh…
Hi. I like the Beatles, but you knew that already. I am a male Kansan human being currently attending high school. In addition to the Beatles, I also enjoy video games, playing guitar, watching horror movies, eating, sleeping, breathing, and listening to other rock bands. My favorite rock bands besides the Beatles are Queen, Fleetwood Mac, and Led Zeppelin, but let’s get back to the Beatles; after all, that’s what we’re here to talk about. I’d have to say that my favorite album is the White Album , my favorite Beatle is George, and my favorite song is a tie between Blackbird , All You Need Is Love , and Here Comes The Sun . This is my first post on this forum, and I think I will like it here.
P.S. I don’t know if I should consider myself lucky, but I own a copy of Two Virgins on vinyl…

Mostly classic Nintendo stuff. I did love my PS3 when I had it though, especially when my brother and I rented The Beatles Rockband at our library. I’m a huge fan of Mother 2 (called EarthBound here in the states). It’s kind of a “cult hit” type of thing, but it’s got loads of Beatles references. Fun Fact: Shigesato Itoi (the creator) named Mother after the John Lennon song, though the game has little to do with the song. Also, my phone doesn’t seem to let me mention people, so sorry about that.
