Hi everyone,

before introducing myself I read all your introductory posts and found out that I seem to be the only one from Germany here.

My name is Astrid ( that's no lie!) and I was born in February 1969….a year before the Beatles broke up. I went to Primary School, Grammar School and finally University to become a teacher for English and German. But as I became pregnant with our daughter shortly before I got into the job I decided to stay at home and terrorise my daughter instead of other parents' kids (just kidding….but my teenage girl would say that that was my only intention why I stayed at home!). I am married to a wonderful guy, a metal head who loves Paul's songs as well, and our daughter Laura is 12 years old now, loving Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber and Michael Jackson…which is really hard for me sometimes, but I managed to sneak in three songs when I found MJ History album: she hasn't even realized yet that “Come Together ” is a Beatles song and that the other guy who sings in “The Girl is mine” and “Say Say Say” is Paul McCartney . 

And our fured family member is a Beagle…we couldn't get a Beatle, so we took a Beagle instead…her name is Lucy. We live in a small town near Essen, a place you all might know from the Beatles Blitz Tournee in 1966.

In 1979, a year before John was taken from us, I became a huge Beatles Fan. My parents own a Radio/TV Shop and so my father had recored some vinyl albums on cassette tapes, just to try how that works. Actually he had the red and the Blue Album at hand then, I never asked him why he had chosen these, as there were many others….He brought that tape home and gave it to me, and as I was bored with my German music I listened to at that time I gave it a try. And since then their music never left my life. When I was younger I didn't have the chance to read and see so many Beatles-related stuff as it was difficult to get a book in English language or to see a film in English language in Germany…but with the internet and the DVDs where you can choose the language everything is easier now. I am more infected than I ever was, my husband always asks me if there is something new to find out…he can't understand that, his groups are different from the Beatles.

I have all their albums on vinyl, most of Paul's solo stuff until the time the CD came up also on vinyl, the rest is on CD, I got nearly every album by John on vinyl and some of George's and Ringo's stuff as well. I own some original singles, the last one I got from my brother at my birthday. I have all their stuff on CD now, solo albums of each member included, and I have a lot of bootlegs, different films, loads of books (most of them in English) and last Christmas my husband gave me Remastered Stereo Box.

My favorite Beatle….well, John had been my favorite over all these years, but recently I am totally into Paul. Can't resist his eyes for long….I love them both and I need all four of them. That's it.

My favorite album? I can't decide really, I think Revolver and Sgt Pepper and Abbey Road are really great. I am more into their later stuff now, although I still love their early albums.

And my favorite book so far? There is one no one here might have read it is Klaus Voormann's “Warum spielst du Imagine nicht auf dem weißen Klavier, John?”, but Geoff Emerick's and Tony Bramwell's book are great, too.

Other hobbies?

I love to play Sims2 and Sims 3, I am a big housebuilder but I also love to let some well-known guys move into a house and become rock stars LOL

Internet…well, that is my biggest hobby and you can find me in a lot of places, mostly my username is BeagleAgent or Astrid, depends on the place where I am. Most of the time I am in LifeJournal……

I love to read, write, paint/ draw. Long time ago I learned to play trumpet, guitar and bass-guitar, I still play guitar sometimes, but not as often as I used to.

Other music I love is mostly music from 67 to early 70ties at the moment, e.g. Cream, Ten Years After, Rolling Stones, Hendrix etc. My husband infected me with Iron Maiden, we have been to some concerts already, and I also like ACDC (have been there too), Judas Priest, Manowar and Guns and Roses.
