How quickly can you get to know someone reasonably well?
The internet seems to speed the process up, but maybe it also gives a false sense for knowing a person.
With my HK friend I must have spent 50 hours or so (maybe more) on texts, phone calls and video chats in just 2 weeks or so – which if we were dating face-to-face would be quite a lot (I haven’t done that latter part for so long I don’t really remember).
With my STBE we decided to get engaged after about 10 dates, and though we are now apart we had over 20 years of happiness together before the rot set in, and have 3 fine kids.
I’m just curious. I have a feeling I’m somewhere near a key point in the relationship – without having any evidence of that one way or another.
Then again, I’m not even sure I know myself that well

Offline You can’t tell me what to do!
But I’ll give a brief synopsis anyway. (warning: this is 8th grade drama and I’m aware that it all sounds incredibly stupid, so if you’re not going to take it seriously, kindly scroll past)
So there’s this girl I’ve liked for a while. One of my other friends also likes her, but for him I honestly use “friend” loosely because he’s kind of a dickhead. Anyway, starting at around the beginning of December 5 of us (a couple, me, this girl, and the other guy) have gone ice skating every Friday. I’ve been holding her up and teaching her how to skate for the entire two hours every time, and at school we’ve been getting pretty close. Anyway, last week we didn’t invite the other guy (he’s done a series of idiotic things that have led to no one really wanting to be around him), and this thing with teaching her how to skate kept going. On Monday the couple (who are my two best friends in the world) and her came over to my house. It started off normally, I taught her how to play some video games. Eventually she started like grabbing my phone (both of us have an iPhone 6 and each of our fingerprints have been in the others’ phone for a while), and I would like grab it back playfully. I end up with my arm around her looking at her phone for a while, at which point I tell her that I like her. She responds with like an “oh…oh…huh…I sound really dumb right now”, but she got closer and grabbed my hand. Later on I was looking at her Snapchat (on Snapchat your three best friends are the three people you “snap” the most), and since the other guy is kind of obsessive, he’s at the top of her list since he won’t leave her alone. I said “hmmm, seems like you like him more than me” jokingly, and she kissed me on the cheek. Anyway, it really seems like she likes me, even though we left without any definite terms of where we were. Tomorrow I’m going to ask her out, and I’m fairly confident. So there’s the story.

Even astronauts don’t do that many tests.
The world has gone crazy on job requirements. One contract I did a couple of years ago I had to fill in over 20 bits of paperwork for the personnel area.

Offline A couple of pics of a deer outside my window. Coming down to the house earlier today we saw two fawns leap over the hedge and meet their friend.
And definitely not least I took a handful of pics of my dog before he had to be put to sleep so here are three. He was so damn adorable. Just like me he hated having his photo taken so i have a ton of him looking away from the camera. I’m not one for sharing things like this normally but what the hey. My dog is/was friggin’ amazing and therefore deserves some sort of act of remembrance.
Oh, and it turns out he was 18 months older than i thought he was.
